I believe the new rules state that you can only move down ONE place that you finish. So IF they finished 30th, worse spot would be #2. Someone confirm / deny that? - bgratch

Yes, because only 1 team wins the lottery. |

I wouldn't take draft picks for Talbot on the chance that one of the extra picks could be a contributor in a few years. I'd want a current NHL roster player in the deal. - bmeltzer

Thankfully the drop off from #1 to #2 doesn't seem as big this year as it was in 2007. |

Yep.. I expect it now.. Drouin Mackinnon or Jones.. Imagine if Jones is on the board and Homer doesn't take him? Also, maybe we flip one of the top picks for a top young dman? - Hextall271
If the Flyers are in a position to pass up Jones (meaning they'd be drafting no lower than 3rd), they're going to get a forward with 1st line upside who is likely to make an NHL impact at his position sooner than Jones on D. So I'd be OK with that if it were to shake out that way. I'd also be thrilled with Jones, of course.
Teams don't trade top young NHL D men for draft picks, unfortunately, not even high end picks. |

I wonder if they finish dead last if Homer and Lavy both get axed. |

Let's say the Flyers miss Jones, Drouin and MacKinnon and pick somewhere between 4-7, who do they take? Monahan, Shinkaruk, Barkov, Lindholm, Nichushkin? Or do you think they'll take a dman? |

Most of the issues plaguing this team absolutely have to do with the Coach. - MJL
Of course because he goes on the ice and finishes the chances they get |

If they pick 2nd or 3rd and Jones goes first, then they will take Drouin or MacKinnon. And they should.
If they pick later on then Nurse, Pulock, Ristolainen and Zadorov will be in play. |

I'd really like to see how Homer plans to get a top puckmoving defenseman. I expect it will take Schenn +, but they are so hard to get teams don't let them go. I guess we can hope to draft Jones and that he is NHL ready by thetime Timonen retires. |

It's not a read and react play for the defenseman in Laviolette's system. And if line change and too many men on the ice issues are repeated, it is absolutely his job to fix that. And his responsibility if it keeps happening.
What Kostitsyn did in Nashville is irrelevant to what is happening here. - MJL
How is it irrelevant when I am comparing player laziness and poor line changes? |

That sucked horribly falling to 2nd. I didn't realize at the time the drop off from 1st to 2nd was so huge. Kane would have looked fantastic here. |

Kane has the sickest hands in the league. If he was bigger he would probably be just as good as Stamkos. |

Spot on about Talbot... It would be a HORRIBLE thing to trade him. He has been a hard worker throughout the season and add a gritty example of work ethic.
He was the one thing the Flyers needed after Lappy was out. It might not be goals on the ice but it makes people around him better.
I think the Flyers need more people like Jagr on the team. Look at the the work ethic he had when he was here. It totally transformed Hartnell. Seeing that makes others want to do the same. I think in NOT signing Jagr the Flyers lost his work ethic too. They ALL look out of shape now.
Never underestimate the power of strong leaders off the ice. |

He's just as tall as Datsyuk and Crosby although about ~20 pounds lighter. Same height as Giroux as well although Kane is 10 pounds heavier. |

And so it begins...didn't even make it to page two without this season's abysmal performance being placed at the feet of Lavy - aantny88
Which with as talented a team as the flyers lays the blame at the coach's feet. |

what is your feeling about the situation in goal? - isaiah520
I think they'll ride it out with Bryz for another year.
But if they're not going to change the style of play (overly aggressive forecheck), why hang $5.5 million of your available cap space on a goaltender? Just find a stopgap and go after a guy like Ben Bishop, Jake Allen or Jonathan Bernier. |
