How does a team that is so bad at face offs not pick up Halpern on waivers? - campbell
There's not much space on the current roster. Picking him up would mean that they would have to send Porter back down and risk losing him to waivers. Now, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be super upset about it, but that line has had some good chemistry so why mess with it? |

Based on the Leafs game . seems the players actually played like they really wanted too. Not getting my hopes up. they could go right back to the no interest brand of hockey like they have in the past. - cabin
I still think they finish in the bottom 5 of the league. But a few entertaining games between now and the end of the season would be nice. |

At this point he's the veteran player I would want them to keep. Everyone else is up for grabs.
Keep Ott, Foligno, Ennis, Hodgson. Build around them. - HonkFortheGoose
Those are my 4, but i'd keep Vanek too. When healthy he is still an offensive beast. I'm not going to sit here and tell you he isn't lazy sometimes, but do you think Canes' fans are pissed they signed Semin?
But I like theose 4 and Vanek, the rest can be determined. |

Porter has a better chance to be part of the future of this team where Hecht is done no matter what after this season. I think Halpern is an upgrade over Hecht just for what this team needs. |

He is worth more than that imo. He has been playing pretty good lately. Great 3rd line fill in for teams needing one . |

Actually, they can't. They're at the vet max in Rochester. |

really?
that would assume you think this team can make a strong playoff push
plenty of other players they should go after
honestly, given our D play, I would have put a claim in on Komisarek
If he doesn't work, buy him out |

If they don't win tonight, the definetly better keep losing. But if they win, you can't ignore that they have a fighting chance. |

Word, what about Porter though? Is he considered a vet? Or not because he has an AHL contract? |

I don't know exactly how it works, but I know they were at their Vet max. Maybe with Porter here beyond the 9 games/30 day mark he doesn't count anymore, but as of a few weeks ago, they were at the max and not much has changed other than Porter being here longer than 30 days. |

Well if any team calls wanting him , they better say yes for anything. The Sabres have enough organizational depth to cover for Hecht in my opinion. But you are right Hecht has not been awful lately. He has played against 3rd and 4th line players but maybe Rolston has at least struck a chord with these guys, and they don't want to be benched as a vet. |

Awesome thank you. Maybe that is why they had to trade Brennan too, just to free up some player space. PLus I'm sure quite a few other reasons. |

I would think Homer knows what he's talking about or he wouldn't post it, especially about Steve Ott a player that Sabres nation has come to love. - SABRES 89
Homer also said it was 50/50 that doesn't mean it's for certain Ott will be moved. |

Leopold and Stafford for Clowe perhaps. That would be a great trade for the Sabres. |

lol. Honestly I hope they re-sign him for 2 more years. He is still a beast in the corners and the Sabres need true professionals. I'm all for the youth playing too, but some people act like he is a dime a dozen or something. I love his game even though he has slowed down, not many players want to go into the corners with him. |
