Pttsburgh had their forst lotto pick in 2002. they then had 4 more up until 06. 5 years in a row starting in 02. They won the cup 09. 7 years later.

The Oilers had their first lotto pick in 2010. Taylor Hall. So by the same timeing they should win the cup in 2017???

It's going to take more than that to pry Lucic out of Boston. How about MPS & Klefbom for starters & then we'll go from there.

I know getting Lucic would be the tougher of the two but if adding in Klefbom to the deal I could see the focus turning to Kane or even to a lessor degree Kulemin. I think there are assets to get a deal done but I just don't see the Oilers moving Klefbom.
A guy like Hemsky would do well in Boston, they already play a more physical game and although the perception of Hemsky being a "light" player he does play in the tough areas.

From when they drafted Marc-Andre Fleury in 03 until 07 they didn't make the playoffs. From 2002 until 2007 they had a Maple Leaf like 0 playoff appearances.

Oh wait I forgot, they did give two firsts for Kessel and the very first year with that pick the Bruins did win the cup. The leafs did have a hand in that.

But again, you're basically saying the Oilers should be able to get a big, power forward with skill & not give up the untouchable list - it's not going to happen.

Boston doesn't want Hemsky as part of any deal, if they move Lucic(which isn't happening) it's going to take a Klefbom or a Gagner or a 1st round pick this year but stop with trying to unload b-level players to bring in top talent.

Hemsky only plays when he wants to & GM's know that which is why the Oilers couldn't move him last year or why they won't move him for value this year - plus the guy will eventually get hurt again.
