if Bishop becomes a UFA, then no, but if he is a RFA and we have his rights, then yes....
haven't checked but I keep hearing he will be a UFA, and KO is signed for another couple of yrs, so OTT will have to throw in something more - Ur Not Me
bishop is a RFA |

I think Bishop is supposed to be a RFA. If he hadn't played a certain number of games, then he'd have been a UFA, with Anderson's injury my understanding is that will no longer be the case.
EDIT: I just checked Capgeek, and they have him listed as a RFA at season's end, fwiw. |

I would think the Sens would be looking to add a guy like Steit with the injury to Katlsson. I have no problem adding Streit. - ses111
Really I had no idea Murray was looking for a 35 UFA Defencemen why not just resign Gonchar? No rentals please. I can't see Murray trading Bishop + to acquire a guy who is going to play maybe 20-25 games for his club. |

He said add. Therefore, Okposo and Streit for the package you offered.
I'd like to resign Gonchar, but frankly we have no guarantee he likes it here... Renting Streit would give us a better chance to do damage in these playoffs, which could convince Melnyk to spend more money on the team next year, and could convince at least one of Gonchar and Streit to remain Senators next year |

thanks... the deal could work for both teams, only issue might be the D you threw in bc we have the same type of guy in Finley, Carkner, so idk... |

Really? Hmm. Now that is a much more intriguing possibility. For that deal I'd probably do it, I'm not sure if it would be worth it from the Isles' perspective though... Bishop is a decent goalie and would give you a chance to trade Nabokov (if you can do such a thing), and Borocop is an alright defensive prospect, but for some reason I feel like there may be more valuable pieces that you can acquire for Streit... - Mr_Clean

Streit contract is up and with his weak D I'm not sure how much the Isles can get back for him? Maybe another team values Streit a lot higher? Just watching him play all the time I'm not crazy about Streit. - ses111
I believe they do. |

i agree...i think a package of KO and Streit can fetch more than a decent goalie a decent defensive prospect and a 3rd rounder |

Streit alone could possibly get a 1st rd pick from a playoff team |

I would expect so. He's a high scoring PMD... It may be true that his defence is subpar, but most contenders would have enough quality defenseman to play the tough minutes if need be, leaving Streit with the opportunity to focus on what he does best! |

For a team in need he'd fetch that IMO. Right team right time. Snow should unload him and Vis. He's just going to have to be a GM in the offseason. |

Could fetch a 1st+
Probably not a big "+", but still... If he was shopped around, he'd be the best offensive dman on the market.
Do you think the Isles will be sellers, though? (I know a lot of people think they'll be, but "a lot of people" are not Garth Snow)
They're still close enough to be considered a possible playoff team. |

You never know with this team? There is no need to make the playoffs this year, zero accountability. You could make an argument for either way. If you ask me they should sell. They just are'nt that good. I'm thinking this is the way Snow goes and he should. Keeping Capuano on as coach to me sent the message that they don't care much about winning. If he resigns Boyes and Streit I think it's a bad move. It's time for Tavares to be captain of this team. |

I would have to think they are sellers. If I'm the Isles I would not make the same mistake they made losing PA for nothing. Even if the Isles make the playoffs they are no built for a long playoff run. Who knows what will happen though. I guess Steit in the right spot could get a #1 pick. |

Isles have to move him then if that is the case. Streit is not the future and I would move Vish, Nabby, and Boyes and get anything for Reasoner. I cannot see the Isles making all these trades though. They will also be worried about hitting the minimum Cap next year. |

totally agree with everything...i think they should sell as well...if streit and vis can bring back a 1st+ OR a solid prospect IE not a project, hes gotta pull the trigger on those deals. |

I personally agree with you - it should be a seller's market this year. I just don't have any sense of what Snow's sense of job security might be at this point... Do you think he's comfortable giving away a decent shot at making the playoffs, or is making the playoffs something that might make the difference between keeping & losing his job?

the next 4 games before the deadline would/could decide how Snow plays it. its still tough games, but regardless I would still sell bc the team D is lousy
I do believe Snow will sell and get assets plus more cap space to be in position of acquiring more/better talent for next yr |

Selling is the way to go. Get the extra picks and prospects and you make deals this offseason with teams with Cap issues and get this rebuild moving forward. |

Job security is not an issue. Making the playoffs cannot be a huge issues if Capuano is still the coach. |
