That would be very strange if the Rangers are not on his list. I would think they would need to move a big contract to fit him but who knows? - ses111
They aren't on it. It was LAK, CHI, PIT, and BOS. |

This is my worry UIF. We should have gotten a better look at some of these kids by now like Ullstrom and given bigger roles to guys like Martin and Casey. It's all well and good we have these young prospects but was is the point if we have a lousy coach and we handle them so badly? - ses111
Not really impressed with Ullstrom... trade him!!! |

I can live with trading him. I'm not sure how much we can get back though? Like Poulin he has not be really given a chance to show what he has. |

I just worry about guys getting fustrated like Nino. A guy like Lee that stayed in college should not need a lot of time and Nelson seems pretty close as well. Isles have been waiting for these guys and it's getting to be that time. Managment cannot put these decisions off much longer. Having said this I do think Bailey and KO will not be moved at the deadline. - ses111
Nino was a rare case because he was up already, mismanaged, then sent down, and it appears that communication could have been better when he wasn't invited to camp. It's been a disaster. That on top of an overanxious agent...
These other guys...if they want to crack the roster, let them earn it in camp, rather than handing it to them because they might pout. Too much has been handed to players too soon in this organization already, imo.
Unless they add forwards through trades or FA, there are three scoring-line spots available for Nino, Strome, Ullstrom, Nelson, Lee and whoever else to fight for. that's assuming Boyes isn't back and lines are something like:
Moulson-Tavares-?
Grabner-?-?
Bailey-Nielsen-Okposo
Martin-Cizikas-McD

Agreed...I'm just hoping the opinion on him will change when even a cheerleader like Butchie starts pointing out how something seems off with the first line... |

I forgot about Maccammond. Comrie and Campoli were "demanding" trades from what I remember. Always thought that was funny, Campoli demanding a trade? hysterical - Cptmjl
both out of hockey currently. Campoli reminds me of Shia LeBoeuf, who I would personally like to punch in the face... |

To me Boyes has to go but I have a bad feeling he will be back. Nino should be with the team or traded in a package for a Dman. Bridge should be out of Nino. |

Yeah, Boyes has actually been better than I thought he'd be. I don't want to pop another vein in Cpt's head by saying that, but it's more to do with how bad I thought he'd be rather than him playing exceptionally well. I watched him on Buffalo last year...he couldn't do anything at all besides score a bit in the shootout. He actually skates harder now than he ever did last season.
But he doesn't add any type of quality to the first line, and his point production would fall to next-to-nothing if he was on a different line and couldn't take advantage of Tavares' work. So, no real spot for him here next season, imo. |

would not be shocked if changes are made to the roster, bc the isles will have a lot of cap space available. I think the complete 3rd line could be dealt.... |

I know he was hurt for a lot of the season, but you don't hear much about Kabonov. Anyone have an update on how he's been playing since returning? With all the talk of what to do with Strome, Nino, Lee, Nelson, etc, you never hear much about Kabanov. |

You have to wonder how Kabonov fits with the Isles? Guys like Strome, Nino, Lee, and Nelson seem to fit better on the top two lines. Maybe Kabanov is a guy that can go in a package? |

I would think that's more Nino if he's not traded? Do you see Kabanov as 1st line material? I have no idea how good he can be? The Isles are going to have to start moving some prospects. They simply will not have the room. |

This was a preseason write-up from Pronman:
2. Kirill Kabanov, Left Wing
2010-11 Ranking: 2nd
Date of birth: 07/16/1992
Age: 20
Height: 6'2''
Weight: 199
Shoots: Right
Statistics: 50 GP, 21 G, 55 P (Shawinigan-QMJHL)
Acquired: Third round, 65th overall in 2010 by New York Islanders
The Good: Kabanov is a high-end puck possession player who NHL scouts praise for his "tremendous hockey sense on and off the puck." One scout said on him "He's got great vision with the puck, but he's always around the play because he senses so well without it and always knows where the puck will be." Kabanov has plus puck skills and can really dangle defensemen. He's an above-average skater who can generate good power from his stride. The interesting thing about Kabanov was the praise I heard this year for his all-around game. One scout said, "He's very competitive on and off the puck, and plays a good team game. He's been solid defensively." I don't buy the character issues with him that are widely discussed, and everything I've heard from scouts this year points to him having good on-ice work ethic and getting his off-ice work done. I've written about how I feel those issues were overrated, and NHL sources I talked to this year echoed that.
The Bad: Kabanov still needs to get stronger, but scouts have mentioned that he is growing well into his frame, with one saying "he could get to 215 pounds in about a year." Considering his talent level, even though Shawinigan spread out ice time, his production has continued to be a concern especially for a 19-year-old player in the QMJHL.
Projection: He has all the tools to be a first-line winger although at some point he needs to really start lighting up the scoreboard.
Also notable, he had Kabanov ranked #2 behind Strome in our top 10 prospects. This was all preseason, however.
edit: and then there's this:
Corey Pronman mentioned you
now
Corey Pronman @coreypronman
Injuries there, but play's been just decent/solid. RT @dlawless9: Kabanov any concern or too small a sample size in injury-shortened season?
and this

Corey Pronman @coreypronman
Probably no. Like potential, but put more risk on projection. RT @dlawless9: Would you still have Kabanov at 2 in #isles top 10 prospects? |

He was an atrocious defenseman. The fact that we got anything for him, let alone what we did, is a miracle. |

Put it this way- I'd trade Nino, and one of Streit or Visnovsky (you always need to keep one of these type for the PP) if it would bring us an actual defenseman who can knock someone down, and has skating ability (i.e., NOT Komisarek).

Have to figure Isles will be doing something. The question is what? I really hope them move one of the D and Boyes and Nabby and Reasoner. That may be pushing things though. |

I don't think LAK have a need for Streit or Lubo. Boyes doesn't really have any value to a playoff team, as his success is largely a byproduct of playing with Johnny. Nabby is useless to any of those 3 teams.
My (realistic) dream would be Okposo for Muzzin. |
