Now Briere can go back to playing video games with his kids rather than Cooter. God forbid a multi millionaire have to uproot his kids to keep playing a game for a living - Just5
That's what a negotiated NMC means.

I'd be selling Gagne, Fedotenko and listening to offers for Hartnell, Talbot, Meszaros and Coburn. - Jsaquella
Hartnell??? What. NO!
I love Talbot. Homer better not trade him unless a 1st is coming back... yes I mean that. |

If Briere was willing to go over to Germany to play during the lockout, what makes you think he would be unwilling to wave to have a chance at a Stanley Cup? - PLindbergh31
Because not being bought out would cost him millions of dollars. |

The 2014 2nd turns into a 2014 3rd if the Pens DONT re-sign Murray - FLYERSROCK!
where did you hear that? I saw Josh Rimer posted this on twitter:
Josh Rimer @JoshRimerHockey 18m
Doug Wilson tells me 2nd rounder in 2013 & a 2nd rounder in 2014 which becomes a 3rd rounder in 2014 if PIT doesn't win 2 playoff rounds |
|

I'd like to keep them, too. But if somebody came along and offered an overpayment for either, Id have to move them. That's what I mean by listening. Get a good enough return and adios. - Jsaquella
Based on Coburn's level of play this year, and Meszaros' injuries not sure someone would overpay, if they do then I think you would have to move them. |

I'd need a significant return for either. In the case of Talbot, If St Louis offered Ian Cole and a 2nd, it'd be hard to say no.
For Hartnell, I'd want more, and he obviously has a NTC |

I don't think he can uproot them. If he goes and plays somewhere else, they stay with their mother. |

Doug Murray has been called San Jose's worst defenseman the last two years by the most widely respected Sharks blog on the internet. He just got them 2 second rounders(or at least a 2nd & a 3rd).
I think that if they were made available, Coburn and Meszaros would have value. |

Well they are better players than Murray. So they would net a better return. |

Unless it's a very high first round pick. That's not enough for Hartnell. Neither is it for Coburn. |

I'd say no. The only way I'm trading Coburn or Meszaros is if an NHL ready defenseman is coming back as part of the return. |

I'd want one for Coburn, Meszaros' recent injury history has me more leery on him. |

Should make for an interesting off season then for everyone. Nobody jumps out in UFA, and I don't think there needs an overhaul or anything drastic. I am interested however to see who becomes available from buyouts because teams have to adjust.
I also can't get 2014 RFAs out of my head with G, Schenn, and Coots all up on deals. Kimmo and Mezzy come off the books, but still thats a lot of loot with guys like Getzlaf/Perry getting 8 mil, I think that's what G would look for, and if it were last year undoubtedly deserve |

Finally, some clarity
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
More on Murray deal: the 2nd pick in 2014 based on Pitt winning 2 playoff rounds OR resigning him and if neither occurs, it's a 3rd in 2014 |

Im a fan of Ian Cole... I would probably accept that trade but goddamn he's done everything we've asked of him and more since he came here... cap friendly cap hit, team player... it'd be hard to trade a guy like him...
I cant even fathom this team without Hartnell at this point. If we trade him we're going full out rebuild. Even though he's struggled this year, who hasnt? |
