Mark Streit and Ryan Whitney are not terrible replacements. - jak521
I'd take Streit on a 1 year deal. Zero interest in Ryan Whitney. It's been a good number of years, since he's been a good player. |

Unless it's a very high first round pick. That's not enough for Hartnell. Neither is it for Coburn. - MJL
I was takng about Talbot for the 1st rounder.
and no, its not. If Homer trades one of Coburn/Hartnell and its a player that isnt as high of value as them, Homer needs to be fired.
Coburn is the only dman on this team with speed. We really cant trade him. He's also been our finest pickup of the past decade or so.
Hartnell is too important to trade, unless you're making a blockbuster deal, star for star. |

I'd want one for Coburn, Meszaros' recent injury history has me more leery on him. - Jsaquella
Im on the other side of that one to be honest. Coburn has been in a steady decline offensively since his first year here. He is a big guy who doesnt use his size to his advantage, has great mobility but doesnt use that to his advantage, and is about as anemic as they come offensively anymore. I cant justify spending the kind of money they are giving him for a guy who has averaged 18 pts over the past three seasons.
I mentioned Ryan Whitney... his biggest problem is his inability to stay healthy. I would be open to trading anyone on this team. |

Should make for an interesting off season then for everyone. Nobody jumps out in UFA, and I don't think there needs an overhaul or anything drastic. I am interested however to see who becomes available from buyouts because teams have to adjust.
I also can't get 2014 RFAs out of my head with G, Schenn, and Coots all up on deals. Kimmo and Mezzy come off the books, but still thats a lot of loot with guys like Getzlaf/Perry getting 8 mil, I think that's what G would look for, and if it were last year undoubtedly deserve - aosplayo
The Cap will likely rise substantially for that year. Likely well above the 70.3M it is now. |

Finally, some clarity
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
More on Murray deal: the 2nd pick in 2014 based on Pitt winning 2 playoff rounds OR resigning him and if neither occurs, it's a 3rd in 2014 - five4fighting10
ya, finally.
Rosen and Rimer both had 1/2 of it |

Im a fan of Ian Cole... I would probably accept that trade but goddamn he's done everything we've asked of him and more since he came here... cap friendly cap hit, team player... it'd be hard to trade a guy like him...
I cant even fathom this team without Hartnell at this point. If we trade him we're going full out rebuild. Even though he's struggled this year, who hasnt? - FLYERSROCK!
Does it make the team better? That's the criteria for a trade that I have.
Now trading Hartnell is a huge step and one that I argued against last season. I also am not saying they should trade any of those players(outside of Gagne & Fedotenko), but only if they get a good enough return. |

I'd like to keep them, too. But if somebody came along and offered an overpayment for either, Id have to move them. That's what I mean by listening. Get a good enough return and adios. - Jsaquella
Although Homer won't be buying rentals this year, I would not be at all surprised at a Yandle type deal as long as it's not an overpayment. This may be a deafeatist attitude, but I am starting to be ok with the non playoff year as long as it means a top pick. Prob won't happen, but I am happy thinking about the possibility of us drafting the likes of Mackinnon, Drouin or Jones.. |

He has had his share of injuries over his career, but two seasons ago he was nearly a point per game d-man and overwhelmingly plus player on a terrible Oilers team.. and realistically, he is a vast improvement over Coburn now (this season). Coburn has been one of the most disappointing players in the entire league IMO. |

Coburn has shown an ability to be a shut down defenseman when paired with a good partner. Meszaros has had and up and down career. I think that you could get more for Coburn, but I'd be less hesitant to move Meszaros |

I'd be perfectly fine if they dealt for a long term replacement/upgrade at the TDL. They have to avoid an overpayment and recoup any picks they deal away, though |

He has always been a very streaky defenseman IMO. Looks great for a period, and then is horrendous for a period. I dont like hearing the whole, he can be good with the right partner spiel... Im not picking on the guy either. I think we had high hopes as an org. that he would put it all together. Never could do that. |

Coburn for Alexei poopnik... how can you possibly argue that
Only trade i'd argue was better was Couts, Voracek, Cousins for Carter. |

Or Timonen and Hartnell for Nashvilles first back. Or Simmonds and Schenn and a second (Grossmann) for Richards.
Coburn has been a steady d-man, and the trade was a very good move, but the player himself hasnt been the best addition of the past decade. Not even close. |

I'm just saying that in the past, with a good partner, Coburn has been fine. Meszaros had a great first season as a Flyer, a somewhat poor second season and since them he's battled injuries. |

I disagree that Whitney is a vast improvement over Coburn. Not at all the same player. If you're going to ask Whitney to play the same role that Coburn is in, you're going to be in trouble. Whitney is an offensive defenseman, that has struggled for a number of years. I don't feel the same way about Coburn. He's had a rough year. But I think he can bounce back. |

Huh. Interesting.
If we dont make the playoffs, we will have a pick in the 1st 3 rounds of this draft... when was the last time that happened!?
The 3rd rounderwe gave for Gagne was conditional if Flyers made the playoffs... if we didnt it was a 4th rounder.
http://www.prosportstrans...tTrades/Future/Flyers.htm
Somebody tell me if we have a 4th rounder or not this draft. 4 trades in there, IHNFC. |

i speculated earlier that yandle would at least cost b schenn and gusty- i think more - and where does that leave us up front? already needing a scoring winger and then, hoping laughton can step in as 3rd line center nxt yr w/ couts as 2nd line center. i dunno... |

Meh. Its still a fantastic trade where we gave up poop and got a 2nd pairing steady dman.
Hartnell and Timonen for Jonathan Blum was pretty fantastic... |
