Is this legitimate? What type of pick are they talking here? If they are willing to move him for a pick, then the writing is on the wall for Danny at the end of the season if he doesn't waive. In big, bold, letters. My thoughts, anyway. - funmaster18
He's better off not waiving, collecting his buyout checks and shopping for a new home through free agency. After all this free agent class isn't awe inspiring. |

But it's someone reporting what Dreger said. I've seen some Philly media completely misrepresent quotes or hearsay. I don't know much about Cordell - funmaster18
Cordell's legit, he's been great here on the buzz and a more-than-worthy follow in the twitter. |

If I am San Jose, I would be looking to trade pieces to get assets. I think they need a bit of a rebuild, and to get away from the whole Marleau-Thornton era. I've thought that way for a while now.
I personally wouldn't say Murray has been their worst d-man in the playoff runs especially. I'd agree he has lost a step this season but to say there is no way he could provide what OD did here, as a 6th d-man is interesting.
I'll use his time in Pittsburgh to make that call before calling Shero a retard. - flyer_nutter
I don't think I called Shero a retard.
Just said that a blog the follows the Sharks closely has called him the worst defenseman the team has iced the past two seasons, and a team that is 1 point out of the playoffs traded him for picks.
That tells me that Murray hasn't performed real well. O'Donnell, for the most part, was solid for the Flyers. But going off what I have seen and heard, Murray's in decline. But Other guys who looked cooked certainly looked rejuvenated after landing on a new team.

I've got the kid listed at eliteprospects at 5 foot 9 and 170 pounds.
If he ends up being a good player thats great, but the Flyers need some more grit up in the top 9 imo. |

Briere's injury is kind of infuriating. I know its not his fault, but its adding fuel to the fire. He's had a bad regular season, likely a buy out candidate. We were hoping we could trade him for some kind of pick.. and ironically he gets injured and basically becomes untradeable. I could never say a player is faking an injury or anything, but it really happened at a convenient time. He sucks during the regular season, therefor not contributing much to our playoff hunt, and now hurts our chances of improving our team for next year because we can't trade him.
Sorry for the rant. I needed to vent. - mikel33
He's got a NMC. He doesn't need an injury to avoid being traded |

he could always recover... not like it would be the first time a player returned from a concussion... I think some of you guys just look for something to female dog about really. |

San Jose is one point out of the playoffs in the West. Usually you don't see teams in that position trade away veterans for picks.
One of the better Sharks blogs( www.fearthefin.com ) is ecstatic at the trade. They're amazed at the return he got and called Murray the team's worst defensemen that last two seasons. - Jsaquella
The Sharks have been struggling all year (outside the opening 7 games) and apparently they are hoping this move shakes the team up and let's them know if they continue under-achieving, more players will likely be traded.
Maybe it works, and maybe it doesn't. |

That's like too easy of a debunk to this myth of faking the injury to avoid being traded I feel like I'm beating on a toddler now when evoking it. |

I never said you did. I made a post saying how I thought it was a good move, and I thought Murray could bring to the Pens what OD did here as a 6th d-man.
The reply I got basically said there is no way he could do that and I was completely wrong (not from you). Napoleon complex much?

Anyone think Carolina would have interest in a pitkanen for coburn swap? Not sure if they'd like to add size on the back end. Gleason is their only DD I can think of |

Whether he does or doesn't he isn't obligated to waive just cause things have gone south as some have implied. I particularly don't like the player but I appreciate what he does and fair is fair, the deal is signed with a nmc. |

I think it was an overpayment, but after the Morrow trade it balances out for the Pens. |

I've seen all class from Briere in his time with the Flyers. Being thrown up and down the line-up.
I dont know if I believe the team saying he has a concussion, and they arent just sitting him out but we will see. In all honesty, I'd like to see the guy be able to get a few more playoff goal celebrations. |

that might be the case with the team doing that, but I highly doubt the player would fake an injury. In fact I know that's not the case when you consider he has a nmc. |
