So, the Pens get all the calls late in a game, but the most glaring penalty of the game wasn't called?
It's not lie that the NHL wants to promote the Penguins. But when you blatantly slash a player's stick (although I think Orpik let it go) and the hook a guy on a breakaway, it's gonna get called 99% of the time regardless of the teams playing. - jmatchett
Both were ill advised, ill timed penalties. Simmers in the offensive zone on Orpik was completely unnecessary. A two handed chop is almost always going to get called when the guys stick breaks or goes flying. Kimmo should have just let Bryz handle Kunitz instead of hooking him, especially with how good Bryz had been playing. That cross check on Jake was awful though. |

That really doesn't answer the question. That is one game. And the goal that tied it up, was on a 5 on 3. Don't take penalties. If the Flyers are going to play differently, they'll need some time to adjust to it. Not going to happen overnight. The good news is that they allowed only one goal to a high powered offense. - MJL
The other side of that is that the flyers scoring has dried up worse than the Columbus Bluejackets scoring. The flyers haven't scored more than 2 goals in a game in weeks. |

Easy to say in a year like this. Funny how the tides change with the winds. |

The Flyers have been playing the same style of play all Season. And have been pretty much horrendous defensively all Season. So any lack of scoring is not due to any change in style of play.

I dont call it panic.. I call it Lavas attempt at team defense. He is a straight forward coach.. he wants his guys running downhill at all times.. so when they changes to go backwards, it looks awkward, and to me awkward is the best word for last nights game. - jak521
Eh, I compare it to Montreal's playoff strategy a year or two ago. Try to clamp down in your own end and pray your goalie gets it done.

In their last 6 games they have scored more than 2 goals once. 3/10 vs. Buffalo they scored 3. |

Sophomore slump is one thing, Couturier having 2 goals in 30 games is bordering on the absurd. I believe one of his two goals is an empty netter as well.
The regression this year has been stunning. |

He's played mostly with Rinaldo, Fedotenko, Harry Z, Talbot, etc. He played with Gagne and Read for only a few games. I would like to see him get consistent time with good offensive players. |

This is not building to anything. This season is one giant step backwards. But
Hey Dan Boyle is a nice piece for the future. |

He hasn't been playing with legit scoring wingers, frankly his play hasn't warranted him being moved up. At this point with the season over, I would move him up and play him with some guys capable of scoring. Hopefully he can produce some points and it boosts his confidence. |

He just sucks lately.. Honestly, who would you say was the Flyers most noticeable forward yesterday?
OT, but since your ban you are one of my favorite trolls. Amazing what a little time in the press box can do for your play.. |

I don't get this quote from Kimmo. Why try to give them a penalty shot? Bryz is more likely to stop a breakaway in the flow of regular play than a penalty shot when the attacker can take as long as he likes to shoot with no pressure.
“They made a pretty nice play and I actually tried giving them a penalty shot, but they gave me a penalty,” Timonen said, of his hook on Kunitz, who split Timonen and Braydon Coburn. |

He was moved down due to some bad penalties recently. Why he was singled out when majority of players do the same thing, I'm not sure. |
