I know Coots has potential, but he has had one decent season. I think the Flyers overhype some players too soon. Sclar in 3... 2... 1....

There's ten people female doging at moving him for Bobby Ryan a 4 time 30 goal scoring power winger that wouldn't hesitate to trade him for Keith Yandle, a good offensive defenseman who is less physical than the hated Matt Carle.

Flyers have enough physical defensemen in Coburn, Schenn and Grossmann. They need a puck mover more so than a 30 goal scorer. Hell Hartnell has been about a 25 goal a year, there are goal scorers on this team. Ryan would be a nice addition but he wouldn't fix the problems here.

They lost 2-1 last night. They could have used Ryan.

Trading Couturier for Ryan doesn't eliminate the possibility of getting a defenseman. There's not a rule I'm aware of that limits teams to 3 trades per summer.

Maybe the full deal would see them get a defenseman back, along with Ryan. Again, you're allowed to make trades with more than one or two guys.

I'm not disagreeing that they need a defenseman more than a 30+ goal winger. I am saying that it's dumb to just dismiss it as stupid without looking at all the possible ramifications and possibilities.

I don't know if I'd even agree to it. I'd be fine if they just moved Read+ for Bouwmeester(getting some cap eaten by CGY) or Yandle
