Yandle would bring some elements to the team that they don't have right now. One poster said that believes that Yandle could put up 50 points on this team. I don't think that's a stretch. He's never played on a team with this much offensive talent. He would add a dynamic offensive presence in 5 on 5 play, and on the PP. But he would also have to be used right. Put out in offensive starts. Kept away from top lines as much as possible, for him to be the most effective. Unless you simply wanted to go offense against offense. I personally would prefer to trade top assets and use Cap resources for a player that is a better two way defenseman. The problem is the difficulty in obtaining that player. I will say that I would not be willing to trade Couturier for Yandle.

I wouldn't trade Couturier for him either. Id imagine a Dman would be involved going back to PHO given the amount of money our top 4 guys are making. Coburn/Schenn/Grossmann + Read? Personally I like Schenn, so he's a no, again just a preference here. Grossmann is one of the guys playing to the value of his contract, and does so many things that go under the radar, I wouldn't move him. Coburn has been asked to do more over the past few seasons, and when expectations shift for various reasons and the player doesn't live up to them there's criticism, fair or unfair. Read I put out there because at some point he's going to get paid and we can't pay every forward multi millions with the 3 centers coming up for new deals....Homer (or whoever it is) will definately be earning his money this summer!

I honestly thought he was a politically correct choice for the population of Toronto. Kid has game.

Good hands, good vision, has a quick release, plays with a ton of moxie. He's on fire as of late too. 3 goals 7 assists in Toronto's last 5 games.

Toronto did a fantastic job being patient with Kadri. Now it is paying dividends.

My concern is that adding Yandle, and subtracting Coburn. Is going to put even more on Timonen's shoulders next Season. Even though he has struggled, Coburn plays tough minutes such as on the PK. I think they might need a slight upgrade on the #6 spot then. With a physical experienced player who can play some on the PK.

The Flyers are going to need that cash for some real improvements. They're looking at 3M in Cap space right now. I wouldn't be real excited to use up half of that for a player in serious decline.
- MJL

I don't disagree. But if we are unable to find better ways to spend available cap dollars, I wouldn't have a problem with Murray at a discount from what he's making this year.

If the Coyotes are trading Yandle, the top reason is to get some offensive help. The second reason is to open a spot for Gormley or Rundblad. Why would they take Coburn or Meszaros back?

I think you'd need Read and a pick to land Yandle, personally. They don't want to add salary or defensemen.

I can see a Yandle trade for a forward, and then a separate trade involving Mez or Coburn. I just can't see them eating up so much cap space on the d core. I would rather Homer try and pry Gormley and Rundblad personally. The cost to obtain won't be as dicey especially if it is Rundblad.

They still need to hit the floor. Briere is the tonic

That's a possibility, sure.

Of course those that dismiss trading Couturier in a trade for Bobby Ryan seem to feel you're no allowed to make more than one trade a summer.

No shot he'd waive to go there. PHX won't take Coburns salary. I could see Read and maybe Cousins or a 2nd rounder for Yandle, and then Briere to Montreal for picks.

Considering how much Homer was willing to tinker with the line-up last summer and came up empty, I expect similiar aggressive tactics this year. Guys like Voracek and Simmonds who signed multi-year deals at reasonable cap hits are certainly in play for trade. Players like Noebels, Laughton, McGinn, and Cousins (depending on court proceedings) could potentially fill top 9 roles next year at a minimal cost on the cap. I definitely think Talbot is in play at the deadline, he is a perfect role player for a Stanley Cup contending team. I think his value will never be higher then right now because of his age and terms of contract.
