He hasn't been playing with legit scoring wingers, frankly his play hasn't warranted him being moved up. At this point with the season over, I would move him up and play him with some guys capable of scoring. Hopefully he can produce some points and it boosts his confidence. - PLindbergh31
That has been my point since about early February. I think there has been total mismanagement of him this year. |

Awesome. That ensures he bounces back next year. - PLindbergh31
It doesn't ensure anything. But what his Season this year also doesn't ensure, is that he won't bounce back next Season. You can look at it either way. Positively, or negatively. I choose the positive outlook. And choose to look at his ability, his hockey sense, and his talent. And know that the situation with how the team has played, can affect a young player. And this Season has not lessened his potential in my eyes, one bit. We'll see what happens. |

He just sucks lately.. Honestly, who would you say was the Flyers most noticeable forward yesterday?
OT, but since your ban you are one of my favorite trolls. Amazing what a little time in the press box can do for your play.. - jak521
If Matt Cooke can reform his game why cant I?
To me Read was your best player last night. Besides Bryz. |

He was moved down due to some bad penalties recently. Why he was singled out when majority of players do the same thing, I'm not sure. - PLindbergh31
I think his penalties are harder to live with for a few reasons.. He isnt producing ANYTHING offensively and his penalties are super selfish. He isnt taking unfortunate penalties as a result of hard work. |

Agreed. There's nothing to lose so might as well give him more offensive opportunities. |

That is a good point. Hartnell takes selfish penalties out of frustration. The others just take penalties out of sheer stupidity. |

As crazy as it sounds.. Hartnells penalties are a lot worse for the team than most other players.. |

The pens and many other teams just execute at a higher level. Especially their breakouts and basic line rushes. |

They are in desperate need of points. Giving up on a season for purposes of a "better" draft pick rather than fighting for the postseason as long as possible is a disgraceful mentality. Even if you don't have a playoff team, you want to see as much compete level as possible. - bmeltzer
While I certainly agree with the bold, I don't think that was the suggestion. I think he was trying to say that it's beyond time for the writers to stop talking about points slipping away in the playoff race. They're not in the race. They haven't been in the race for a long time. |

Cooke had no other choice to reform his game or he would have been out of the NHL. And I have looked at the play with Karlsson 25 times, and no one is going to convince me he didn't do that on purpose. He made it look like it was an accident, he knew exactly what he was doing.
And quite honestly any play causing injury that involves Cooke, he should receive zero benefit of doubt. |

On a positive note... Luke Schenn played nearly 30 minutes last night and was pretty damn effective. |

You know, Matt Cooke has been much reformed this year (the Karlsson thing was a freak accident). But last night in the 3rd, there was a play on the near-side corner of the Flyer's end, and they cut to a close-up camera to show the work.
Gervais had fallen down, not sure if he tripped or what, but he was down. There were 2 Penguins players there and 1 Flyer (I think the Flyer actually won the battle). One of the Penguins players was Cooke. While the one Penguins player was trying to get the puck, Cooke's stick was about 4 inches off the ice, and looked like he was trying to jab Gervais in the face more than play the puck. Anyone else remember this? |

I agree with you. Look at Simmonds penalty last night. Absolutely zero reason for him to slash the stick out of Orpik's hands in the offensive zone. |

Exactly what I was saying. I mentioned later that I don't condone tanking but the Flyers getting points isn't the big story right now. Playing like they're a real NHL team is more important.

I remember it clearly. I even said to my brother in laws that I loved it. He literally refused to lose that battle.. he fought and fought (ferociously) and forced the puck back around the net where the Pens gained control and got a scoring chance.. I wish the Flyers played with that kind of determination. |
