You maybe right that you cant get comparable guys. But really are these guys helping you win games or making your defense any better? That's were you need to rebuild the defense. You pick two guys that just don't fit the system and get rid of them, use lesser paid and younger players as 5/6's. - kschmitty33
problem is unless you draft those younger guys, you are going to pay a premium for them...i would love to see them draft and develop some defenseman in the next two drafts...im tired of pillaging our youth for 35 yr old defenseman.

That's how it was for me. I saw Cooke's name, and assumed it was dirty. Watching it left me feeling significantly more inconclusive. The lack of suspension isn't the blatant failure that the Nash flying elbow incident recently was. - BulliesPhan87
The fact that people still say it was clean is down right laughable. Its literally identical to the James Neal hit on G last year in the playoffs. |

When did we pillage our youth for a 35yr old defenseman?
You can go ahead and draft d-men all you want... doesnt mean any of them will be all-star quality d-men. Hell, its even drastically less realistic to assume they will be all-star quality d-men within the next 5 years. |

I'm utterly flabbergasted that there was no suspension. The explanation was complete bullplop. I can't fathom, even in the slightest, how anybody could call it not dirty. |

in order to get the number one D we want, we will have to pillage and rape the youth of this team...i exaggerated when i said 35, but defenseman, especially all stars are not available for a first rd pick...... usually a 1st + a prospect (1st) + +..... |

The flyers were counting in Gustafson showing that he can be a capable player on the 3rd pairing. He clearly hasn't shown that this year. Which ties their hands even more |

In an honest question, from the mind of a Flyers fan (a place that has to be scary to explore). Do you guys as a fan base have hope for the playoffs? Because the way you guys played last night you are better than the Rags, Jets,Leafs, and Caps. Being only a few points out, I would really love a chance to get revenge for last years playoff crapping of the bed. - nbartley9

For now, I'm willing to attribute the backslide of almost all of our young players to the terrible season this team is having.
BUT
This is a chicken and the egg argument. And can be easily debated the other way. |

Maybe, but he really wasn't too consistent last year. If he's not chipping in offensively he is useless. |

If we could play the Penguins every round, maybe, because you guys seem to be the only team these idiots come to play against consistently. (Plus, they'd be awesome games.) Otherwise, honestly, we need to be selling off veterans, giving some younger guys a chance to win spots, and freeing up money to retool in the offseason.
We need to keep competing, and trying to win games, but Homer also has to acknowledge that there are too damn many teams we'd have to leapfrog, and giving up assets for a quixotic run at the postseason will weaken us down the line more than it will help us now. |

Let me give you a scenario...
Say the Flyers end up with the 3rd overall pick... Drouin and Jones go.. or Jones and MacKinnon..
They end up taking either MacKinnon or Drouin..
If they then ended up trading Schenn or Voracek or another forward for a young puck mover would that be pillaging and raping the team of its youth?

If they trade one of the young guys at the deadline you can bet that it was Snider's doing as Holmgren's puppeteer. |

the flyers are incapable of doing what the Caps did to WPG last week...team D isn't good enuf. the odds against the flyers are insurmountable. |

He just sucks lately.. Honestly, who would you say was the Flyers most noticeable forward yesterday?
OT, but since your ban you are one of my favorite trolls. Amazing what a little time in the press box can do for your play.. - jak521
Simmonds or Schenn. Until Simmonds took a stupid penalty that ultimately cost them the game.
Both goalies were fantastic. |

the pens seem to end up with 5 on 3 advantages every time they play, often when it can benefit them the most late in the game.
either way, the flyers, while playing better overall still had long stretches of being hemmed in their own end due to poor execution more than anything else, and it was a miracle the pens didn't score until their 2 man advantage. they just have no answer for protecting leads in the latter half of games. more squandered points when they were ahead. - hammarby31
You're better than that...
Maybe don't take obvious penalties back to back. Those calls are made if you're playing the Panthers too. |

It depends.. St Louis may have a tough time signing all of their guys this summer. You have to do a ton of scouting for sure...
I would also look to Chicago and Fla.. |

I like Luke. But he struggles to relieve pressure. Off a center ice face off the flyers win cleanly he got the puck. He was slowly backpedaling until he couldn't make a play but to dump it around the back of our net. Of course the other dman couldn't come up with it and the clusterfuvk is on. He simply isn't mobile enough to thrive on a top pairing until the flyers get an exceptional top end offensive talent to pair with. Then he will be great |
