The biggest issue with Briere waiving is the custody issues beyond this season. He signed a deal to spend the whole year in Germany if the lockout went on. But that was only one year.
I think he'd be open to waiving if he got a promise that the other team would agree to a compliance buyout after the season, so he'd be free to do the best he can for his family this summer.
That is totally my opinion and may well not be the case. It's all conjecture and supposition. No hard facts, outside of the deal with the German team to spend all year there. - Jsaquella
Any idea where his wife is from?
I doubt Montreal would just agree to use him in a buyout - they've already used up one, and the other one has "Kaberle" written all over it. |

If they pick in the top 3 then no way I trade the pick but I don't think that's likely. As much as I'd like to get a big time prospect in the draft, they could get a proven commodity with the help of a 2013 first. - NickTheKid87
A lot depends on this week. If they totally crap the bed, I could see them sell off some pieces and really struggle over the last 13 games after the TDL. |

Not sure, but rumor has it she's married to a southern NJ police officer now, so...probably not moving too far |

If we could land Ryan and Yandle for Couturier+ and Read+, sign me up, depending on how much extra we have to add to each. I wouldn't do either deal until after the draft, we really need to keep our picks for this deep draft. If we land a top 10 pick, that would soften the blow of missing the playoffs.
Ryan, Yandle, and add in MacKinnon, Jones, or any of the other top end talent this draft. - Rocktane
I expect their draft pick to be between 5-9. You're probably gonna have to move it to get Ryan and Yandle. |

I think he only has one more year left on his deal, so he should just suck it up and start packing. |

well your forgetting Mez and Briere....so I am asssuming were buying them out on your chart...Yes I prefer that cause 4th line center is easy to fill and 2nd line winger could be drafted this year - nonpoint22
Briere traded or bought out. Meszaros traded for a pick or two. |

Especially with a top 3 with so much upside. MacKinnon, Drouin and Jones could be big time players. |

Don't get me wrong, I hope we win, but you know that saying about hoping in one hand and poopting in the other? Yeah, my hands are pruned and I'm all out of soap. |

Honestly, that's what I'm hoping for. Having Drouin, Jones or MacKinnon opens a ton of doors for the team. |

I dont trade that lottery pick for anyone....especially in this draft when we are gonna draft pretty high - nonpoint22
Unless it's the 1st pick (which I'd only move if the crazy Weber hypotheses ever came true), I'd only trade this year's pick if it's part of a package that brings Pietrangelo. That's about it.
To summarize; I wouldn't trade this year's top pick. |

Two more after this one.
But it's an interesting contract: $6.5 milly in cap hit in each of the next two years, but only $3 million and then $2 million in actual money.
Which would make him pretty attractive to a small market team.
What's the traffic like from Long Island to south NJ? |

He's got two after this year and he has NMC, so no, he pretty much controls his own fate, unless the Flyers buy him out. |

Legwand was actually one of the better players taken in that draft. Of course, every team passed on Datsyuk multiple times. |

Pretty easy to sell the buyout to the owner, though. It's just $5 million remaining.
And the Flyers don't have a lot of buyout candidates, no? It's not like they already have their two earmarked. |
