Please tell me how Hartnell has not been a top line player over the past 2 seasons?
37 and 24 goal plus the only constant on the top line.
Right now he is not but that could have a lot to do with missing 20 games or whatever it was to injury,. - opeth_pa
He's prone to cold spells, but Hartnell has been on three of our most effective scoring lines over the past few seasons. Carter and Lupul, Briere and Leino, Giroux and Jagr. Hartnell wasn't just there for his flowing ginger locks.
I have no reason to expect them to pick up their play, when realistically eliminated, I'd expect them to play Leighton more to avoid injury to Bryz. - Jsaquella
If you are truly out then play Heeter for a game and see what he has. From a purely entertainment standpoint it would make me plenty happy. Leighton could never play for us again and I would be happier then a soccer mom with a new mini-van.
As for Briere it is really sad he can't be traded. If for no other reason then I would have liked to see him play in the POs for another team. Again, that would be entertaining.
I could see a Couturier/Ryan trade tabled for now until Flyers see where they are drafting. As you stated earlier, if they made that trade, I could see following up with Read, Simmonds, or Hartnell for Bouwmeester and buying out Briere. - sulshawn
i would rather go for Yandle or Shattenkirk if were giving up that much...JBo is so over rated and has never played for a winner. I do actually put stock in that

The Flyers players would all be having record seasons without him. We'd probably be in first place with a better record than Chicago.
Lavi, why you hate on Flyers players? - wolfhounds
It would suck if anyone was putting all the blame on Laviolette. Fortunately the only ones doing that are sarcastic morons that can't make a valid counter argument to support Laviolette's performance as head coach.
You can't just blame the players and absolve the coach, GM and owner.

So what you are saying is this dogpoop product we are watching is the product of ineptitude on Management, Players, and Coaches. That's a relief. I was worried.

Yes, the players share fault, so does Holmgren and Snider. You don't suck this badly without every component sharing some of the blame.
I just hold Laviolette more responsible, because I feel he's done a really poor job in making sure he had a scheme to fit the roster he knew he'd have since last July.
He's failed to effectively counter teams that play a disciplined style and solid team defense against the Flyers whether they are a playoff team(Rangers, Bruins, Devils) or not (Lightning)

I am in agreement with you. Coaching is an issue and a big one. It can be addressed more easily than personnel, GM and ownership as well.
