Hopefully the approach they used against Pittsburgh is the same they employ tonight with a bit more discipline in their game. - Jsaquella
Honestly, if they play like they did against the Pens, they will lose again. But I hope it does happen (playing the same way). It seemed so unnatural watching them try to play defense. As in, unnatural for the players. It was pretty awkward looking.. ya know, like a baby giraffe taking it first steps, or my buddy trying to talk to girls sober. |

After the rangers top 3, their defense doesn't look so hot either. If you have to play Eminger significant minutes, you're in trouble. The Flyers hould be able to get on that defense. - MJL
True, they have Staal who is out so the top four are better than what the flyers have.
Teams aren't usually going to have 6 solid dmen. The 5 and 6 guys tend to get exposed by the better teams and coaches.
My main point is that our pipeline for Dman callups is non existent. I am willing to have patience for the guys we do have but nothing to get excited about. |

I want to see it because it's the way they will need to play-to and extent-in the future. They probably did dial down the aggressiveness too much vs the Pens.
It's not about becoming a Borg like defensive team. It's about being a good, responsible defensive team that plays disciplined(both in staying out of the box & fulfilling your responsibilities in the system) hockey. |

The Rangers pipeline is so deep that they had to regularly play Stu Bickel and now are using Eminger in the top 4 and have Roman Hamrlik dressing when he couldn't sniff the ice for a bad Caps team. |

Overall, the Rangers and controversial head coach John Tortorella have more or less owned Peter Laviolette's Flyers in recent seasons. Over the last 11 games between the teams, the Flyers have a 1-9-1 record against the Blueshirts.
That somebody can read that, and still defend the coaching of Laviolette, is beyond me. When combined with the record against the Devils, it's staggering to me that the Flyers still employ him as coach. - Jsaquella

i think in every one of those boston losses they were down 3-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game. |

A lot of the losses came this year especially for Toronto (0-2), Pittsburgh (1-2-1), New Jersey (1-3). |

Predictions for tonights game:
Bryz plays very well
Hank however plays better
The Flyers continue to make critical mistakes and take at least 1 really bad penalty
Final score
NYR 3 - PHL 1, 3rd goal is empty netter.
Hopefully going 0-1-1 coming out of the break will finally convince management that they are going NOWHERE this year and Holmgren starts burning up the phone lines to see what he can get for Gagne, Fedotenko and if the reward is enough, Coburn. |

A loss tonight should put an end to this miserable season and the Flyers can start selling off pieces..... Oh wait, with Briere hurt there are no real pieces to sell. Good times. - psuhockey
ClubStats indicates a better than 80% probability that 52 points will get you into the playoffs (down from 53 last week).
Flyers need to go 12-5-0 to hit the magic number.
Flyers have some good players (other than Briere) that would be of interest to other teams and might help them build on picks and prospects. Good chance they will get an outstanding player in the coming draft.
Also think they might add some pieces that could help them deal for a top #1 Dman in the off season. |

Boston is just a Flyer Killer now...ever since that series we came back from 0-3 to win. They have shredded us since. |

As much as I love this team there is no way we go 12-5 the rest of this season. None. |

Not completely....the biggest surprise is 5 years. He's making $7mm this year alone. |

Pronger magical comeback?
LA decides to trade Doughty for Gagne?
The Ghost of Fred Shero replaces Lavi?
Basically, 2 Flyers versions of a Cloutier trade, and a ghost. |

Did anyone else see the Darren Dreger comments on TSN about a possible Coots for Bobby Ryan deal....I understand we would have to give up more, but what is everybody opinion if something like were to happen this off season. Just wondering |

Yeah, considering they've only managed to win 13 of their first 31, it's not even close to reasonable to think going 12-5 is possible. 5-12 is more like it. |

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 3/26/13 vs Rangers - bmeltzer
If Briere is healthy, trade him at the deadline -- preferably, i'd like to trade him and Read for Ryan, rather than Coots, but I'd deal with Coots for Ryan. In off season, I buy out Mesz and sign Ian White, and try to get Myers from Buffalo for cheap. If you don't trade Briere for Ryan, then trade him for a top D prospect if possible.
Hartnell - Giroux - Ryan
Voracek - Schenn - Simmonds
Gagne - Laughton - Read
Fedotenko - Talbot - Rinaldo
Timonen - Schenn
White - Coburn
Myers - Grossman
I think Defense is a position that need at least 5 good ones -- I'd take less scoring for better Defense. I am probably crazy suggesting the above, but who cares. |

I don't think I'd do that. I think SC has a lot of upside and will do well here. |
