Carolina is a unique hockey market. Players really love Raleigh, it is great for their families and the bond within the player community is very strong. My guess is Semin has fit in really well. He is getting rave reviews for his on ice play from all sides.
Nobody has ever doubted his skill. Maybe he has found his niche and the Carolina marriage might work for everyone. - spatso

Nodl has 20+ goal potential and is a key part of this team...er, um I mean he's a flop as a scorer and a minor part of, um some other team... - exlund
Hey, he kinda sorta was pretty okay at St. Cloud St. |

Personally, I'd draft prospects like Nodl over the 3rd line energy/grinders/fighters that the Flyers seem to love any day. |

Also very possible that the team that hold the first pick would be taking Drouin or MacKinnon themselves at number one. - Jsaquella
Pretty good chance that FLA does that, w/ their stable of young blueliners and their need to replace Weiss. Although I'm sure they'd play up the Jones angle in the hopes that they could finagle something of value out of the Flyers while still getting their guy. |

I asked a question as a joke on the Canes blog, but maybe it has some merit.
With the Rangers on the bubble, they are probably looking for a move to improve to get them over the hurdle and into the playoffs. And right now, Marc Staal is not contributing at all due to his injury.
If Carolina slips down over the next few days, do you think they might try to move a guy like Corvo or Larose to acquire Marc Staal? That would give them all 4 Staal's. If they ever called up Jared Staal, I'd pay money just to see the 4 of them on the ice together in an OT game. |

I keep forgetting Fla is so terrible this year.. They really do need the offense. |

Say the Flyers end with the 2nd pick... should they try to move up and get Jones, or take MacKinnon and go from there? - jak521
Who says you would have to trade up? For example a team like Florida, if they pick 1st, may want a guy MacKinnon and not even take Jones. |

Also a chance that whatever team has the #1 overall pick could trade it to a team that has an abundance of offensive talent (Edmonton?) for some top-tier talent. Cloutier would assume the #1 pick would be had for Hemsky, I'm thinking more Gagner +1st+more. |

I agree personally on Yandle. But do you think Pho does the deal for Read and a 2nd? Playing Devil's advocate, All-Star at premium position, 26, controllable for 3 more years at manageable cap hit (5.25m).
I'd certainly ask for Couturier and Read. - TheGreat28
I wouldn't even give them Read and #2, let alone Coots. |

Huberdeau and MacKinnon as 1A and 1B would be scary. |

He'd be an obvious upgrade, but if the cost starts with Couturier, B. Schenn or even Read, I'd be out. - bradleyc4
I'd be happy to move Read for Yandle, 26 year old 2nd line winger for 26 year old offensive defenseman works for me. You have to ask yourself who would be easier to replace and it seems its easier to find a skilled winger over an offensive defenseman. |

Hey, Don Cherry's got the 16th best win %. Maybe we could coax him back into coaching by payment of ties and suits.
Then again, Bruce Boudreau is 5th best. - jmatchett

Huberdeau and Drouin on the same line might be even scarier. Two players that are highlight reel quality players... Drouin has insane vision and Huberdeau has the ability to find open space. |

Cant stand the guy.. he is just annoying to me, but I always felt a little bad for him down in Wash... Had a fantastic offense, but zero defense to work with. |

Wouldn't it be funny if some GM were to pull a Brian Burke and make a move to draft BOTH MacKinnon and Drouin to keep them together. |
