i do have untouchables but that's just me
- Don'tForgetTocchet

Keep that sort of talk in the Misc. threads, please.

More seriously, I have 7 on the team I don't trade:

Bourdon (not really tradeable unless he recovers from PCS)
Couturier
Giroux
Grossmann
Meszaros (will be better if healthy next year)
Simmonds
Voracek

agreed about giroux and simm, but there are more i would keep

schenns i'd sell if the price was right

- Don'tForgetTocchet

i like the schenns too

i'd be really reluctant to move the young guys, unless the return was an equally young player. and i put the schenns right in there with the rest of them

i really hope they commit to remaining patient and building the team the old fashioned way. they really have a solid core of young players

If the GM is fired also it would be nice to hire a GM and not a former player for once.
- stveshdy

I wouldn't make any qualifiers like that. If the made a GM move, my top two names would be ex-players...actually my top 3 names would be. Jim Nill of the Red Wings, Paul Fenton from Nashville and Rick Dudley from Toronto.

I know that he demanded Holmgren go get a goalie. I'm fairly comfortable in saying he demanded that the Old City Boys get moved out.

It's awesome that Snider's passionate. It is a blessing as much as it is a curse.

But what we know of Paul Holmgren is that as an assistant GM, he loved running the drafts. He actually said in interviews that he wished Clarke wouldn't trade so many picks away.

I honestly don't feel that Holmgren would be Johnny Ringo if Snider wasn;t putting pressure on him.

- Jsaquella

Obviously I hope we get Snider (and the fans) another cup, but he needs to take a step back and let the people he's hired do the job he's paying them for.

we suck! gut this team homer
- 2Real

Except that is not whats needed and is what causes problems every year.

You dont need to gut your top end talent of Giroux, Voracek and one of Simmonds, Schenn or Couturier.

Should have added the "out the door" part in the original post. I blame the internet. And Shelley

I have 2, at most. Giroux and Voracek.
- Jsaquella

You would think someone who is apathetic would have 0. I'm not in my right mind tonight, I think. I mean I argued a point tonight to find out I agreed with the other poster's point.

Who does that?

In today's NHL, I don't think you can acquire a franchise d-man in his prime other then drafting one. If Seth Jones has that pedigree and the Flyers are close to the top pick, they have to use whatever assets necessary outside of G to draft Jones.
- ravishingone

Trade Coburn for a 1st. Use the 2nd to move up and take Nurse. Take Best player available with lotto pick. If it's a forward then that makes B Schenn or Coots expendable to land Byfuglien, Yandle or whoever.

i thought it was well known that breaking oup the old city crew was an organizational decision. they traded them one at a time trying to get the attention of Richards and Carter. they finally decided to trade Carter and I think the Richards deal was too much for them to pass on.

I'm less willing to gut the team and start anew. I'd rather keep some players that knew what winning here was like.

I agree 100%.

Trust the GM you have to do the job. Don't undercut him by declaring the goaltending will be fixed in public. That not only handcuffs him in trade talks, but in contract talks.
