I wouldn't make any qualifiers like that. If the made a GM move, my top two names would be ex-players...actually my top 3 names would be. Jim Nill of the Red Wings, Paul Fenton from Nashville and Rick Dudley from Toronto. - Jsaquella
It really wouldn't be the end of the world to try somewhat of a new course. With this team's monetary resources and rich history, they'll still be able to attract players and whatnot. But I'm at the point where I'd like to see new people doing draft evaluation (especially for rounds 2+), building the team, etc. |

I'm less willing to gut the team and start anew. I'd rather keep some players that knew what winning here was like. - Flyskippy
i have ZERO desire to gut the team, i would keep quite a lot of them myself.

i thought it was well known that breaking oup the old city crew was an organizational decision. they traded them one at a time trying to get the attention of Richards and Carter. they finally decided to trade Carter and I think the Richards deal was too much for them to pass on. - mayorofangrytown
I think breaking up the crew was. I think dealing both Carter and Richards was a mandate. I say think, because I have no proof other than innuendo and rumors. They were shopping both leading up to the trades. I do know that for a fact.
Richards being traded was NOT a case of LA coming along and blowing them away |

Trade Coburn for a 1st. Use the 2nd to move up and take Nurse. Take Best player available with lotto pick. If it's a forward then that makes B Schenn or Coots expendable to land Byfuglien, Yandle or whoever. - hereticpride
It would be just great to just have an all-around great d-man in his prime. I miss the days of Desjardins and before that Howe. |

i like the schenns too
i'd be really reluctant to move the young guys, unless the return was an equally young player. and i put the schenns right in there with the rest of them
i really hope they commit to remaining patient and building the team the old fashioned way. they really have a solid core of young players - FlyerMike18

The Flyers will have to make some changes for next year. Not sure which direction they are going to go in but its obvious this team has some holes. |

It depends on how much the draft strategy is driven by the pressure from on high.
Do they draft forwards because they're more comfortable doing so, or because generally they're ready faster to step into the NHL? |

Wow so much for being patient and letting the kids grow. Seems like the only one safe from another rapture are Giroux and voracek, whom only a handful on here prior to last season believed he was a special player... Boy oh boy ah well chasing our tail does make for great conversation when we blow up the roster thinking all is cured only to watch jettisoned pieces hoist a cup in another jersey. |

Obviously I hope we get Snider (and the fans) another cup, but he needs to take a step back and let the people he's hired do the job he's paying them for. - wolfhounds
As long as snider is a living and breathing entity I don't think we ever win a cup |

I would consider Hextall and Dave Poulin, especially Poulin for his background in economics. |

I dont think you will see that many players go. They need to upgrade the blueline though and move a piece to do so.

The crew was getting out of hand, especially after the 2011 disaster. From what I've heard, the organization finally enough after one particular "incident", which forced their hand--Holmgren had apparently said right after the season that he wasn't looking to make any wholesale changes--and then, 11 days later--the poop hits the fan. |

There's a lot of guys who are salvageable, and quite honestly, there's a few that trading right now would be foolish and a case of selling very low. |

don't overreact, we are responding to a very black and white question on whom is perceived as untouchable
i personally would keep, if i were in charge, giroux hartnell jake read gagne meszaros schenns x 2, grossmann simmonds timonen bryz rinaldo talbot
and couts! |

I wouldn't consider either of them before trying to get one of the other 3 first.
The thing is, I think that the GM is academic if Snider is issuing mandates and public declarations and pressing him to do things he'd rather not do |

and where are they now? what does this team look like going forward? to me, it's SOS...trying to win last yrs cup, impetuous moves, shaky cap mgmt, etc. yes, there have been very good decisions, but clearly an inability to stick w/ a plan and a wretched off season. homer goes and the new guy takes the job on the condition that ed butts out. |
