Yup. Get as many picks as possible for this year's draft, then fill holes in the off-season with free agents and trades. - wolfhounds

Holy smoke did Bryz make an amazing save 24 seconds into the game. Missed that on the road.
Of course, he shouldn't HAVE to make that save 24 seconds in. |

morrow waived his ntc
you can make a player no longer feel welcome - 2Real
From this it sounds like you think Morrow was pushed out, is that what happened? I just thought they were doing him a solid by sending him to a contender.
Flyers don't really have a history of pushing out historical players in franchise history, like Kimmo........EDIT: Lindros, dang it! But he played in the Alumni game, so theres that. |

I would listen to offers for Hartnell, but would not be shopping him. I think if he's got two healthy feet, he's a different guy this year. He returned a couple/few weeks early, did he not? - Jsaquella

i don't see this as prolonged at all, this team is better than what's going on here
i'd tweak, and keep fartsmell - Don'tForgetTocchet

how long do you see the rough patch taking? - Don'tForgetTocchet
i honestly don't know. that's the tough part in these circumstances. i don't think they're definitely in THAT deep of a hole, but i can't say that for sure. so i think the idea should at least be brought up
i'd think making this determination is the hardest part (or most important) of a gm's job. being able to accurately asses where your team is, in the big picture |

Yes, which is why he should have much less ice time to better allow him to get to 100%.

Briere is out indefinately with a concussion. What value does he have? Who is going to trade for him when injured? |

I wouldn't make any qualifiers like that. If the made a GM move, my top two names would be ex-players...actually my top 3 names would be. Jim Nill of the Red Wings, Paul Fenton from Nashville and Rick Dudley from Toronto. - Jsaquella

Terry Murray gets team to finals, gets fired for making ill advised comment. Peter laviolette gets owned by the Atlantic division and both Florida teams, still has a job, amazing. |

I reluctantly agree with this. I love the guy, have owned a jersey for years which I just got signed last month, and enjoy his crash-bang-pow style of play... BUT there is a lot lacking in the hockey smarts department which have really come to the fore this season: undisciplined penalties and poor decisions with the puck.
*sigh* - Flyskippy
if i'm dealing hartnell, it's not because of his deficiencies. he's a legit top-line power forward. a very valuable asset, and he's been a warrior for the flyers
if i'm dealing him, it's because i made the determination that his remaining effective years will be wasted on a non-contending team. players like hartnell and coburn are young and effective enough to be valuable commodities still. if we don't see a quick turn-around coming, it may be wise to move them for more future oriented returns. particularly for a power forward like hartnell: he has a lot of tread on the tires and when power forwards go they go quickly
EDIT: again, i'm not saying they are definitely at this point. just a thought. and i LOVE hartnell |

No, but his foot was injured, not his head. He makes rash decisions with the puck when healthy. If other players see that, see him not punished when they are for similar mistakes (even if less frequent), and see their ice time diminish, that's not good for team morale.
Still... I love the guy. My heart wants him to stay but my head... hasn't made up its mind yet. |
