murray would have been fine as interim, but now i want new blood like you - isaiah520
At this point, it'd be almost pointless. I wouldn't have expected a change in fate, but who knows, they might have gotten a positive bump and turned things around.
I just knew that there was no turnaround in sticking with Laviolette. |

no, but if we back away from the emotions, a skillful gathering of assets and some good trading/ drafting could make this yr a blessing in disguise. have to nail that draft pick though...and start going hog wild to gather young dmen by all means possible. |

Who would you guys trade to Phoenix for their 1st round draft pick for this year, which almost certainly be a Top 5 pick?
More importantly, who do you think they would want for it? |

Aside from Giroux I cant see one player on this team worth a top 5 pick. |

OB is better versed than me, but here's my top 10(not just for Flyers needs)
1. Nathan MacKinnon C/W
2. Seth Jones D
3. Jonathan Drouin LW
4. Valeri Nichushkin RW
5. Sean Monahan C
6. Alexander Barkov C
7. Elias Lindholm C
8. Darnell Nurse D
9. Risto Ristolainen D
10. Ryan Pulock D
In the case of the Flyers, if I'm at 6 and my top 5 are gone, I'd be willing to maybe "reach" for one of the defensemen. - Jsaquella
I couldn't pass up Jones if picking #1...for this team...just couldn't do it. He's a mobile #1, PP qb the team desperately needs. You know I like Nurse a lot too and consider him a bit of a poor man's Jones.. but then again I wouldn't be too disappointed if they take MacKinnon or Drouin... |

Way too steep for an unproven commodity. But they would certainly want a good return.
If Columbus and their new GM are smart, they are going to be sick in a few years with 3 1st round picks coming this draft year. Yikes. |

I wouldnt call G an unproven commodity but yeah 3 1st rounders will go a long way....Funny how much better this team is without Nash truly playing a team game. |

I'd take a Defender, Jones, Nurse, Ristolainen or Zadorov. If I'm taking a risk, I'm taking a risk where we have a known weakness, and that's definitely on defense.

Ah gotcha....For some reason I get a better feel of Mackinnin than Drouin....I am actually Bob has been stellar, guy has been solid all season much better positioning and doesnt make himself so small anymore. |

Always like Bobs potential. I hope he does well. And Columbus could turn into a really good team in the next 3-5 years.
Shootout!

Yeah, they need to do a better job in the young defensemen area. Not that they have to draft 4 or 5 every year, but do a better job in scouting them and drafting better ones. |

Yes, I know the traditional thinking is BPA, but with the the Flyers forward heavy young talent pool, depening on the exact draft position and who is there for the taking, I wouldn't be opposed to reaching a bit for a D man. Top pick for me is Jones, prob couldn't resist Mac or Drouin after that, then Nurse then Ristolainen... |

Agreed. Flyers and Lavi mishandled Bobs about as bad as possible. |

Will Jokinen be a Flyer? What is Shelley's status? Will Mike Knuble fetch us a 1st? Will Briere let Couturier stay in his house after Briere is bought out? What is the airspeed velocity of a Foster slap shot? |

Luckily, this draft seems like the blind squirrel finding a nut scenario with so many good prospects, but I sure wouldn't mind packaging a few select players/prospects for another 1st round pick. |

People say, draft Mac or Drouin and then deal for a D man...but for that D man you have to give up a big chip or two and pay him a big salary. drafting the d man may take a bit longer to pay off, and I know some feel like the Flyers need season their d prospects more before bringing them in, but a these guys, Jones, Nurse, Ristolainen have the size and game to make a quick transition to the NHL imo. So, this way a top d could be brought in without giving up a top young player...yeah there's risk the guy doesn't pan out, but also risk that you have to overpay for an already developed top D man. |
