No one has said that I've heard. But I really hope not. Think Lavi busted Briere and Grossmann's skulls together? - FlyersGrace
My fear is that they may both be being held out of the line up to prevent an injury while trade talks happen. I'll be pissed if Grossmann gets traded. |

One of the biggest complaints from Leafs fans on Luke Schenn, was that he is slow, and lacks foot speed. That is completely not true. In fact most of the complaints from Leafs fans on Luke Schenn have been completely without merit. - MJL
I would not classify L schenn as mobile. He's utterly predictable when he gets the puck on the point in the o zone. He shoots. He knows he can't risk doing much else |

The fact that we have Read, Simmonds, Hartnell, etc. is why I'd prefer not to trade for Ryan right now. I still think we could move one of those three or Schenn/Couturier in order to fill some holes, especially on D.
I would definitely consider a Bouwmeester for Read frame work deal. You can also add depth forwards via free agency. There's a lot of things the team could do. - NickTheKid87
I'm kind of warming to the idea of shipping Talbot back to the Pens... Read is more valuable to the Flyers, then in a trade. Talbot on the other hand... The Pens have a log jam with 1st round defenseman in their farm system; Derrick Pouliot CHL 8.0 C, Simon Despres Pro 7.5 B, Olli Maatta CHL 7.5 C (from Hockey Future website). If we could pry one of these guys, plus... I do it. I like Talbot, but he is replaceable. He isn't a rental, and signed at a reasonable amount - This should make him worthy of a decent trade.

I was more referring to his turnovers....I personally like L schenn and like the trade cause JVR was never going to pan out here it wasnt gonna happen IMHO...but at least this year I see the turnovers....I got alot of he is a great hitter but he makes stupid and costly turnovers in own zone which is also true this year....for all flyers d men - nonpoint22
He makes some mistakes, but overall I'm impressed with his puck handling. 18 giveaways in 30 games. Compared to Coburn who has 30 giveaways in 31 games. |

I think that is, or a lot of it is, due to the system or the inability of the forwards to correct the gap issues. - Jsaquella
That is a very valid point, I like L Schenn and think he will turn into a solid d man for us but as someone on here said I dont think his decision making is great at this point but things like that come with time and confidence |

Dear God someone has to shoot from the point! Mez and Timonen do sometimes, but I'd rather see someone else give it a whirl.
And I've seen some good puck movement from Schenn, I've also seen bad, but I'm willing to give him time. I think he's only going to get better. And while he'll never be lightning fast I think he's not super slow either. He does get out of position occaisonally lining up the big hits but again some of those dumb decisions will get ground away with experience. |

I don't think you could get any of those guys for Talbot. I can't imagine Pitt would want to trade highly toted players within the division. |

Exactly.. To be honest, I expected him to struggle here just based off of Leafs fans.. but he has impressed me a lot. He is impressing others as well.. ya know, considering he played 28 minutes the other night. |

He wasn't brought here for his offensive ability. Most defenseman shoot the puck when they have it at the point. His skating issues were massively overblown. |

If briere get healthy and accepts a trade to the Habs think we could get Nathan Beaulieu from them - griouxmvp2012
If Montreal is looking to add offense, and I'm sure they are, they may look to try and get Jagr. He now has 9 goals in his last 12 games and in the past he has mentioned Montreal as a place where he would like to play.
If I'm the Canadiens management, I would rather have Jagr, than Danny Briere coming off a concussion. |

I disagree with that completely. His decision making with the puck has been very good for the most part. Not saying he hasn't made mistakes. But I'm very impressed with him overall. And very happy with the trade. - MJL
I'd have been shocked otherwise.
I like the trade as well. But the games I'm watching through my orange colored glasses reveal Schenn spinning, standing still and hesitating quite often while trying to figure out what to do with the puck. |

i honestly cant imagine those two teams working out any deal....plus I really wouldnt want to get rid of Talbot....I think he is very valuable piece to your team especially at his low cap hit |

Talbot for a 2nd and/or 3rd makes the most sense but acquiring Brenden Morrow may have ended that interest. |

So to summarize the rumour happenings and talk on here the past 2 days, since I've been away...
Dreger says Briere to Montreal for a pick(s) is a possibility if Briere is healthy. I wonder if this is strictly for the deadline, or if they would do that swap this off-season as well?
Dreger also says there are rumblings of a Coots for Ryan swap, as a "hockey trade" and possibly this off-season?
Mentions of trading any combination of Schenn, Coots, Read, Simmonds, Meszaros, Coburn, and Gus for the #1 d-man we require. Yandle, Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Bouwmeester, OEL, Fat Bastard, etc still being the names being dropped.
Oh, and the mere mention of trading Giroux for said #1 d-man makes me want to throw my laptop at the old lady walking by in front of my house.
That all I missed? Oh right, fire Lavy, buyout Bryz. There! |

I love that area. My wife and I lived there for ~5 years. It was before Hartford moved down. We went to many IceCaps games, though. - Scoob
Just visited Raleigh in early March, nice area. My wife loved it and wants to move.
I could get used to it very easy.
Plus I have a craving for the japanese black wings from tribeca tavern. |

If they could get one of them, fine. But I doubt that they do. Part of the appeal of Morrow and Murray is that they have expiring deals. Even though Talbot's deal is cap friendly, the Pens were unwilling to give him that just a year and a half ago.
I think Talbot was their fallback if they couldn't get Morrow |

Agreed! Scott Stevens used to take himself out of the play early in his career going for the big hit, as he matured he learned to pick his spots (just ask Lindros!) and became one of the best shutdown guys in the league.
Schenn will never have the all around game of Stevens, but I think he has potential to be a top pair defensive defenseman as long as you pair him with a smart, mobile partner.
That being said, I would be happy if the Flyers acquired JayBo, because I would love to see him paired with Schenn next year. |
