the best return for prospects, picks and emerging players is to trade Giroux.... his next contract will be a burden and for the good of the franchise it is better to trade him and reload the system, the minor league prospects are ranked dead last int he NHL.... don't go home with hope and hitch the future to a Giroux

Problem is - they can't keep trading away the face of their franchise. They need a long term established leader. Alfredsson, Chara, Elias, Lecavalier, Zetterberg(Lidstrom), Weber, Koivu, Getzlaf, Doan, etc, etc. You need that established guy who can lead the team for years to come. They've had their ups and downs under Giroux so far. But personally, I think it's all part of the growing process. If you trade Giroux now, for prospects/picks, everything you've set up for in the last couple years will be for nothing... You'll be back to square one, with no established leader, a bunch of young kids without direction, and mixed results. I know their system prospects suck... but they can't keep trading away what little promise they do have. I still say Giroux is off the table, as well as Voracek, Grossmann and Luke Schenn. Everyone else I would open up to take offers on, at least for entertainment purpose. Giroux and Voracek ARE the now, and future offensive leaders. Grossmann I like because he has size, muscle, shot blocking, etc.. Just sucks he's hurt all the time... And Schenn, I see as a key part of the future of the D. Maybe not a #1 or even 2.. but he's an essential young piece.
