cap management..............that's a good one. He holds the record for being cheapest, er most responsible in regard to player salaries.

Not too hard when most players on the team are under 25 or re-treads coming off someone else's foolish contract.

i think garth has done great in draft and working waiver wire. He took some shots at UFAs and kept discpline not to way over play. Look at Buffalo. They paid Erhoff 10MM a year in first two years. He has 15 points. Streit and Lubo are far better than him.

THE bailey draft was our best draft. You have 5 guys in NHL from that one draft. Bailey still has alot more to show. Petrov would immediately be on roster if he came here.

Also if you look at Luke Schenn and Filatov. Bailey outright has done better than both those guys.

As for JT, there was quite of few guys even here that doubted Snow. Every jumped out on Duchene bandwagon rookie year. But we know that argument no longer there.

Nelson, Cizikis, Strome Reinhart and NIno will all make their impact for isles.

and if you think Snow has dont poor job, what can you say for Edmonton. They have draft #1 for 4 straight drafts. Everyone thought they would be world beaters this year. Instead they look like they headed for another #1 pick.

Bossy dropped in the draft because he was deemed as a soft player with average skating ability. No doubt Hedman will be at minimum a very good defenseman for a long time but it's harder to find the real natural talents of a Sid, Stamkos or JT.

6'6" defensemen who can skate like Hedman AND come with his natural hockey sense are just as much a rarity. It takes longer for defensemen to mature in this league, but Hedman will be one of the top 10, maybe top five, players of his postion much like Tavares. In hindsight, no doubt Tavares' early attention was legit and the kid is one of the best in the league already, but as I said, it wasn't a no-brainer like many said. If Tampa had the first overall pick, they still would have likely drafted Hedman.

I do understand what everyone is saying. My only point is that I'm not sure we can consider it a lock that all of a sudden the isles start spending in 2015. There has been no evidence suggesting its a lock.

There's no verbal evidence, which is understandably what it will take for some. That said, I've laid out for you the 'reason to believe'. This team spent a fair amount of money trying to compete over Wangs first several years and when the losses mounted up and Milbury left the system, Wang wasn't going to spend his way out and lose even more. Meanwhile Nassau played politics with the Isles while SMG played slum lord. Suddenly the Isles sign a lease to move in the Barclay Center. A stadium recently named one of the top 5 most state of the art arena's in the country.

For any business man, you grow when the circumstances allow it...for the first time in nearly 25 years, this team will be in a position to turn a profit and the potential for success will actually add to that profit. There's simply no reason for Wang to NOT go all in at that point.

Don't disagree with Garth's drafts - tho this years' Dmen Only picks will prob not pan out as well as Bailey year.... That being said, Garth should be the Islanders Head Scout. Not the GM. There's no "art" to waiver pick ups. You know what you're getting....at half price. He's yet to make an impact trade. Won't hold my breath on that. I dare you to. Lemme know when you're blue.

There has to be SOME skill involved... More then not he finds real gems. Its not like he grabs every single player that hits the wire... he grabs guys that his coaching staff has no doubt scouted during their draft years.. all im saying if he is just throwing darts at a board he's a REALLY good dart player.
