So I'll ask you then what is a deal you would be looking for? What would it take to trade Coburn in your opinion?
- stveshdy

I would need an NHL defenseman in return. I would not be looking to deal Coburn in the first place.

What are my expectations? A lot can happen in a year.

Well you are saying if they trade Coburn and miss (which is only one side of the coin) then this team is going to suck for awhile. Why?

They already have holes in the defense. Trading a defenseman who plays over 20 minutes a game, and is the top PK defenseman on the team, creates a bigger hole.

Thats no different than the statements I've made.

Thats a broad statement.

You would trade him for an NHL defenseman whos upside may only be a 5-6?

So none of that can be replaced by making moves?

I said trading for a 3rd and NHL ready defenseman plus adding a puck mover in the offseason (ex: Yandle). That doesn't help fill the void?

It just sounds like you wouldnt move him unless you were getting back a player thats identical. I dont see a team doing that personally.

You're right it is. I don't know what NHL defenseman are going to be available. I would not trade him for a 3rd pair level defenseman to clarify. Most people want to trade Coburn because he's had a subpar year. I think that's a bad reason to trade him. There has to be a balance. The Flyers, in my opinion, are not in a position to trade Coburn for a draft pick or a prospect. Unless you're talking about a top 5 first round pick, or a blue chip top defensive prospect. Which I don't believe you can get for Coburn.

Ok, here's one since the Flyers are getting a 1st and an NHL ready Dman for Coburn(not saying I'd do it):

Flyers 1st Rounder(top 7 pick)
1st rounder Obtained for Coburn
B. Schenn
2014 2nd rounder

for Weber

Flyers keep the other NHL ready Dman.

You need a puck mover in addition to what you already have. And adding Yandle is going to cost considerable assets. I don't think you can get the right young NHL ready defenseman in return for Coburn.

You're right, I wouldn't move him unless I had a plan to get a comparable player in return. Or they're blown away by a deal. Otherwise, they should not trade Coburn.

Well if we offer them an extreme overpayment like that...

MacKinnon Schenn Coburn and picks? Good god.

yep, the Flyers are probably the last team the Preds might be willing to trade with. Especially Weber.

I think the Flyers should try and identify young d-man who have some experience in the NHL, haven't reached their potential and may be available due to previous injury concerns, or being buried on the depth chart. They probably won't get a true franchise d-man, but hopefully get some mobility with some added offensive punch.

Players I would try and get in the offseason:

-David Rundblad
-Nick Leddy
-Jake Gardiner
-Jaime McBain

Yep, anything is doable. Never said I would do it. The Flyers do to their high slot in the draft and plethora of young good forwards can get a top tier puck moving Dman. they have to decide if it's worth it.

I wouldn't be opposed to it. It's a very good idea to have players that they think can be good NHL defenseman. I'm sure the list could grow with the scouting department doing its job.

That's 3 first rounders and a second. Nashville would have had 4 1st rounders if they had just not matched the offersheet.

It's the 7th pick, a 2nd pick , another 1st rounder and second rounder. 4 late 20's doesn't come close to that deal, IMO.

It was a little more gay than I would have gone, but as the song goes

I remember my wisdom teeth coming out. Chinese doctor at the Va in Philly...He almost waited until the assistant injected the novocaine to start yanking.

Spoke less English than a NYC cab driver

Yeesh. That sucks. I took the pain meds when my time was up from the prior pill, as flyguy12 said:

I had mine out about 2-3 years ago. Take the pain meds as directed. The throbbing will sneak up on you quickly and then you have to wait an hour for the pills to kick in.

I knew from getting a molar pulled in February that was the best course of action. The molar was compromised by the wisdom teeth, so the best news is that the rest of my chompers are in great shape: like Mr. Chompers the dog (whose picture I will not post here because of the grotesque-ness of it, but I believe it was feelingkettle's favorite dog).

Until the Flyers get some stability throughout many areas of the lineup I dont want the kid up here for one second.

I'd leave him down for one more year, and MAYBE start introducing him after that.

If the Flyers draft d-man with that 1st round pick this season I dont want them seeing NHL ice for a while. Clean up the poop, before you bring the date home.

- flyer_nutter

I think it really depends on the individual and the makeup/chemistry of the team he'd be coming into...Jones, Nurse and Ristolainen each have the size to mix it up with men in the NHL and could make a fairly quick transition and actually be a factor in helping the team right the ship. While you wouldn't want to put them into too big a role too early, Jones and Ristolainen are probably NHL ready...Nurse would probably benefit from another year to dominate in Jr but could earna spot on the team.

Check them out with the 9 game look or whatever, if it is apparent the player can't handle himself (unlikely with a Jones caliber player) in the NHL, then by all means send him back for more seasoning.

In my opinion in today's NHL the only way a team can legitimately acquire a true #1 d-man before or during his prime is to draft one. Certainly there are a couple of exceptions with Niedermeyer and Chara. If Jones is viewed as that type of talent to me that is the guy you spend assets on to acquire even if it is costly.

All four wisdom teeth? I had that done on March 8th. When I went back for my follow-up last week the doc told me he didn't need to go to the gym that day because he got his workout trying to get the teeth out of my bone. Thank goodness for anesthesia because I felt nothing and remember nothing.
- Scoob

Same here, though I had a weird dream involving someone hammering on the inside of my upper front teeth. I've been relativle pain-free since getting home: removing the band-aid from the IV point of entry was the only painful part - 'cause it ripped out so much hair.
