poulin not nilsson and i'd trade the 2014 1st rounder..this draft is too deep - NYI78
What about it from the Kings' perspective? I'd think they'd do the Poulin and 2013 first in a heartbeat. I don't know if they'd do the deal for the 2014 first rounder. |

Not sure. It depends if Iggy made it clear to management that he would only go to Pitt. If he didn't then I would think a lot of teams did inquire. - Vukota
I have no doubt Pittsburgh was his first choice, mainly because of Crosby. I think Feaster could have pulled a bit more out of this one but if he was limited to Boston and Pittsburgh, I guess the offers weren't that great. |

I agree and if a team trades a first, its going to be a late first, from a team that's going to finish among the top of the league. I doubt Streit brings back a first. Vis might, but I sincerely doubt it. I think the best you do for them is a second rounder, the best you get for Boyes and Nabby are third rounders. - Jethro09
Regardless if they are fighting for that last spot, they have to trade Viz if they can't resign him. They might be only two points out but we all know this team has major flaws and if by a miracle they sneak in they will get swept by either the Bruins or Pens. Teams might get desperate at the deadline and overpay for him. |

your underestimating how much good teams need help on their power play..once again look at the kaberle deal..once again i wouldn't be shopping these players...i'd listen...aslo i wouldn't trade both just one... |

I would do that if the Isles fall out of the top 7or 8 in the draft. I might do that regardless if they took poulin instead - Vukota
Its a very intriguing deal. I'm not really down on Poulin or Nilsson at all, I just think Bernier is more of a sure thing to have a higher ceiling. In a division with goaltenders like Ward, Lundqvist and Fleury (I didn't mention Brodeur because he is likely to retire soon), you need a top tier goaltender. Bernier can be and is projected to be that guy and he's young, so he can grow with the rest of the core of the Islanders. |

I stand corrected he is a RFA after this season. I thought I read somewhere he was going to be a UFA at years end. My bad - Vukota

If some team offered a first for Vis, I'd likely pull the trigger, since I think there is no chance he re-signs after this season. I just don't think teams are offering first rounders for Vis. Maybe Boston is a bit desperate now after seeing what Pitt's done and losing out on Iginla? Maybe they offer a first rounder? But I'd be hesitant to move Vis in a playoff chase if you don't re-sign Streit first. Personally, I don't see what the hold-up is in re-signing Streit. It seems that there is a deal to be made there if both sides really want to continue the relationship. |

Half the league was interested in him. You keep mentioning the Bruins like they were the only team outside of Pitt that was interested. - Vukota
Iginla only approved a move to the Pens, Bruins, Hawks or Kings. But the point is Boston's offer was better, Feaster did Iginla a solid in sending him where he wanted to go most but he did the Flames a terrible disservice by honouring Iginla's wishes. The Flames as an organization were in no position not to take the absolute best offer. |

I dunno....I hate to deal one of our goaltenders for another goaltender at this stage. I'm willing to see how Nilson pans out as I think he can be our guy for the next couple of years. I still believe Koskinen will eventually be our franchise goaltender though. |

Right now Streit would like to stay with the Isles, but his asking price is still a bit high.. he's our #1 D-men but he wants to be paid like other #1's on the league & he's not worth that

If the reports of him wanting $5million per season hold any water, that's likely the hold up right there. No way i want this team shelling out that type of money for him now. |

I agree but with his health issues up in the air & Koskinen at least 2 years away from even smelling the NHL... Its too important of a position to leave to hopes & dreams.. if you can turn an asset that you are going to lose to FA into a SOLID upgrade... you have to do it

if healthy Nilsson is the best prospect of the bunch..i;d put miiko two and poulin three...nilsson has the best combo of size, athleticism and techinique |

I don't know. Poulin was taken in 2008, Nilsson in 2009. Neither guy has blown anyone's doors off in the organization. Nilsson has a health concern now. It really depends on the ceiling of the players involved. From what i've read, Bernier is expected to be a better goaltender than Nilsson or Poulin, even a top tier goaltender. I'm not hearing that chatter about Nilsson or Poulin. |

Absolutely, I'm all for getting value of our potential UFA's, just not sure I want to focuse on the goaltender position when we have three prospects all nearing NHL maturity. |

I'd offer him either 3 years, $9 M or two years, $7.5 M. I think those are fair offers. |

I think it's believed that Nilsson could potentially be one. Poulin's hype came from Patrick Roy and I can't say I've been overly impressed, though it would be nice if he actually got some playing time.
I've heard that Nilsson is putting weight back on which means they likely found a solution to his B12 issues. That should be in the rearview mirror at this point since the biggest issues in thoses cases tend to be finding how to get the body to accept the vitamin. |
