I agree and if a team trades a first, its going to be a late first, from a team that's going to finish among the top of the league. I doubt Streit brings back a first. Vis might, but I sincerely doubt it. I think the best you do for them is a second rounder, the best you get for Boyes and Nabby are third rounders. - Jethro09
Nabby is going no where unless we get a goaltender back. If not snow is a moron. Well he is a moron but you get what I'm saying. As far as streit and vis I think they can both get late first for a team in need. |

your underestimating how much good teams need help on their power play..once again look at the kaberle deal..once again i wouldn't be shopping these players...i'd listen...aslo i wouldn't trade both just one... - NYI78

I'd offer him either 3 years, $9 M or two years, $7.5 M. I think those are fair offers. - Jethro09
what has he done to warrant that kind of money??...he is only going to get worse... |

I don't have a problem with 2 years @ $6 million but he'd have to understand that Tavares is the new Captain of the team and his role would be a bit more limited than in years past. He's simply not good enough in his own zone to pay big dollars for. |

He's been the best offensive defenseman on the team for the past five years. He absolutely runs the PP which is humming along to the tune of 6th in the league right now. If it wasn't for the PP, this team would be wallowing around the basement with Philly and Florida again. I don't see how $3.75M per over two years or $3M per for three years for a guy putting up the offensive numbers that Streit is putting up is an absurd amount of money. Like everyone keeps saying on this board, teams are dying to get their hands on a guy like Streit. How is he not worth between $3M-$3.75M per for two or three years? And lets not pretend that his defensive play is as abysmal as Eaton, Jurcina or Mottau were last year. |

-being that he is currently in the middle of his 4th year i find it hard to believe hes been the best offensive dman on the team over the past 5 years...
- lubomir is +2 and streit is -14... im not sure id give all the credit to streit on the pp
-hamonic, amac, hickey, finley, carkner, de haan, reinhart, donovan, kichton, mayfield, pedan, pelech, pokka, strait....thats 14 guys fighting for 6 spots...some may be ready next season, some maybe the year after but giving a spot for 2 years to a 36 year old aging dman who is only going to get worse is certainly not the answer |

His defensive play is not far off from those three. I don't hate Streit it's time for change. |

That list has a ton of question marks. A-mac has been awful. Carkner isn't very good and never has been. Hickey, Strait and Finley are nothing special. Do you really think any of those guys are going to QB the PP?
the rest of the guys you list are prospects. de Haan can't stay healthy, he's a non-factor until he actually proves he can take a hit from a man without folding like orgami. Reinhart is not ready for big NHL minutes and likely won't be next fall, certainly not ready for minutes QB-ing the PP unit. Kichton isn't even signed. Mayfield, Pedan, Pelech, Pokka are not even signed to pro contracts yet and you think they're stepping into the NHL next season or in two seasons to QB the PP unit?
Truth is, Vis is better than Streit and if I had my choice, I'd extend Vis before Streit. But be real: Vis isn't re-signing. He did everything he could to avoid coming to the Isles. Vis is not going to be on the team next season. So, you would rather let Streit go and have A-Mac or Hickey be the QB of the power play?
And what is it with the money? The isles are millions and millions of dollars under the salary FLOOR, let alone the salary cap. The only guy they have to extend besides Streit that is going to make any significant dent in the payroll is Hamonic. Giving Streit around $3M for two years isn't going to have any impact whatsoever on the team getting additional players. Only Wang and his edicts from up top will stop that from happening. |

Who's going to be the QB for the PP and generate offense from the blue line over the next two seasons if you move on from Streit? Thomas Hickey? |

Hickey was originally projected to be a PP QB, but I don't think he's ready just yet. It's the only reason I'm okay with signing Streit for a year or two. That said, I don't want him filling a top pairing role as he's flat out awful in his own zone. I don't even think he's been all that good on the PP as he tends to have a terrible time keeping the puck in the zone. I'd much prefer Vis since he seems far more decisive with the puck but I simply don't see him resigning here. |

i hear what youre saying...id be more than happy to give that money to visnovsky.
as crazy as it sounds, at this point, MOVING FORWARD, id rather have hickey than streit.
btw, cakrner signed a 2 year deal so youll be seeing a lot more of him next year as well. |

if healthy Nilsson is the best prospect of the bunch..i;d put miiko two and poulin three...nilsson has the best combo of size, athleticism and techinique - NYI78
I think you're too down on Poulin. Something's off with him, I agree, but his reaction time is much quicker than Nilsson. Koskinen...let's face it, the guy's like 9'7 and looks 4'2 in the net...not sure how he even manages that. Poulin's faults are fixable...rebound control and some adjustments to positioning. He has the athleticism to be an NHL goaltender, imo. |
