Imagine Mackinnon and Huberdeau being centered by Bjugstad
- MaximumBone

Since the Gophers were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA tournament, it has been suggested by some media members around Minny that Bjugstad might forego his NHL draft status and stay for his final year of eligibility at the U of M and become a UFA after he leaves next season. Just a rumor right now though.

Don't the Panthers have the right to sign him to a two way or just an NHL contract before he hits UFA? If that happens and we lose him that would be the ultimate laugher. Still trust in Tallon??

Jerred Smithson is going to be gone very soon, so say bye bye to #25. He's one of our only UFA's we have that we have no need for in the future. Trade him, get a depth prospect of 7th rounder for the kid. That would be more than enough.

I'm not sure, but I think that's up to the player. I think the whole Justin Schultz school of draft dodging is going to become commonplace if these guys don't like the team that drafted them.

If i am not mistaken but i thought they fixed the loophole that allows players to draft dodge?

I wonder if Mr. Positive will think Tallon is so great after this blunder. This would actually prove all my points on why the Panthers organization is a joke. Just let our "future" top line center stay in school and go to another team lol. Jeesh what a mess in Sunrise Florida.

How about the brilliant move to keep Bouwmeester (the worst Panthers player down the stretch in 2008) in hopes to make the playoffs then we lose him for nothing lol. History with this team keeps repeating itself.

We had a 30+ goal scorer and let him go before pre season starts. Islanders banked on Grabner, Tallon looks stupid.

4 million for Kuba? of course Kuba will sign here, that's free money for a guy that does absolutely nothing.

Tallon is making the same mistakes JM and Keenan made. Just stupid contracts to guys that don't deserve it (Upshall) lol.

Get the F out of here, this team is going to be a joke forever or until they move up north for a fan base that actually cares and isn't always defending a team that spits in the fans face year in and year out.

But according to you idiots I'm the one who's wrong. I wasn't wrong about Horton/Weiss/Bouw/Olesz/Frolik, I knew that would fail, those players are hardly the type to build a team around.... and now here we are in Attempt #2 and it's started off great!!!! Huber, Shore and Markstrom get to experience being on the worst team in hockey, that should def help them grow and get use to winning in the NHL. This team will always be one step behind the big boys in the league, lets just face the facts. Tallon spends money on the wrong pieces and his drafting even with Chicago has been average at best..... Check beech and Skille.

Look Ballard if you hate this team so much why do you stay!?!

It's a big league has to be someone else you can go cheer for or troll.

And if you cant stand by the team when they are losing you sure is hell dont deserve to stand by them when they are winning!

because once you have a team you stick with them. It's crazy how defensive you get. I'm sorry if some of us like to post the truth and show other fans the truth in what's been going on in Florida for the past 14 years. You were probably a baby when Bure was traded, you know nothing about losing...

And you know nothing of me! sorry if I love my team and I don't cry like a child if things don't work out all the time. Things didn't work out in the pass and now we are moving in the right direction and you give up before we are even done with tallons rebuild.

Flames just got a 1st rounder and two prospects for Bouwmeester..... Panthers got NOTHING! just a waste of a 3rd overall pick for a dman. It's funny, we traded the first overall pick to move down to get him.....

Gudbranson was a mistake, the guy has slow hips and gets burned every game we watch, but of course ull defend him and say ohh Dmen in the NHL need years of seasoning. Yea stick that seasoning somewhere else buddy.

In my opinion, Tallon already has failed. There's no veteran presence on this team. Flash, Kop, Matthias don't really count. Where's our captain??? oh yea, he's 50 years old and can't skate anymore but he's making a nice 4+ million relaxing and watching the games from the press box. Great move making him our leader. This isn't 96, the Panthers need to wake the F up.

btw, we need a goal scorer, Cory Perry is available next year if he doesn't resign with the Ducks. I highly doubt Tallon will make an offer, no high end players come to Florida. That's just the truth of it all, thats why I believe it when someone says Bjugstad doesn't want to play here. Of course he doesn't, he was Mr. Hockey in Minn coming out of HS, plays for the Gophers and what does he have to look forward to? Playing for the Panthers??? A bottom feeding NHL team year in and year out???? no no no, he'll hold out and play for the Wild in two years.

This is the reality of it kid, sorry to burst your bubble but thats the way it's always been. Why do you think when they have the money to spend they only have the ability to bring in low 2nd to 3rd line wingers????

Here's a trip down memory lane:

Remember when they spent the money finally only to bring in the aging Gelinas, Nieuwendyk and Roberts???? Remember that? or where you still too young??? Those were great signings, only the worst seasons I've ever witnessed.

Now it's Jovo, Flash, Kop, versteeg WOW that's a great upgrade in talent!!!!!!! Man I'm glad the Panthers know how to spend their money. It's really too bad, I feel bad for Huberdeau and the rest of the young guys.

Maybe Bjugstad is a pretty smart guy and realizes what a career blunder it would be to start his career in Florida. I wouldn't blame him, only the front office is to blame.

Corey Perry already re-signed like a week ago lol. You sure seem to talk a lot for a guy who doesn't know poop. Like the Minnesota guy said, its just a RUMOR! Media people just trying to get a hot topic to talk about, that's all. You can tell the amount of talent we have coming in is top notch, why wouldn't he want to play with Kyle Rau again or Corban Knight who is a finalist for the Hobey baker award (best college player), and then you got Trocheck who won the scoring title in the OHL and was the first american to do it since Patrick Kane, plus you still got Grimmaldi and matheson, and all of the young guns on the team this year (Hubby, Guddy, Shore, Howden, Markstrom, Matthias, Mueller, Kulikov), and add a first rounder in the draft. I'd say he has a million reasons to come here! You got awesome weather, beautiful girls, a bunch of guys on the team your age (which does make a difference in deciding) and a GM who knows how to build a championship team. I hope you know the Owner is relatively new too and from what I see (I work in club red) he loves the panthers and wants to make them a contender! I see him in the stands cheering for the panthers with all the other fans and you can see he really does care. So from what I'm seeing its a whole new organization from Owner to GM to Coach to Team from what it used to be. So quit coming on here crying about the past and how its never gonna change!

Ballardhitshard is an idiot. I will not respond to his idiocy other than to say that his reasoning is tremendously flawed. By lumping in the number of years and number of coaches and GM's he does in his argument he loses any and all credibility. It is akin to saying that Pittsburgh is a terrible organization, I mean, they were terrible from 1965-67, 1983-88, and 2002-2006. They were so bad they wracked up lottery picks in the top 5 for 5 years in a row and 5 more from 1985-90 and have declared bankruptcy twice. I mean, come on, ignore whats going on now, just look at that history! You stupid Foolish dumbass.

Hey Ballard you Sh--head, when have the Panthers ever had the number one farm system in the league? Oh thats right.....now.

Hey Ballard you idiot, when did the Panthers last make the playoffs? Oh thats right, last season after a 10 year absence.

Hey Ballard, how many man-game injury losses have the Panthers sustained in this shortened season? about 250.

Hey Ballard you foolish hack, Tallon can't draft? You point to Skille and Beach? Have you looked at the 2008 draft results? How about 2005?

The blog posted by Dan is about this season's upcoming draft. It appears we will have a top 3 pick in the draft and be able to grab anyone of these gifted players. Any of the 3 will help, and in a hurry. Looking at the numbers, NHL teams who won the cup (excluding Detroit) since the previous full season lockout have averaged a minimum of 3 or 4 top-5 picks on their build-up to cup teams approximately a minimum of 4 years after their first top-5 pick. We have Huberdeau and Gudbranson, plug this pick in as well, and we are well on our way.

And when we get there there will be no room on the bus for ballardhitshard.
