How you make that seem so clinical...I do get the feeling you are chomping at the bit to really let loose. Please, don't hold back on our account.
I have been told/read that had Pronger been in the lineup this is a middle of the pack playoff team (lilke that is what we all aspire too). However, everyone knew that Pronger was done LAST YEAR, and even he in his prime could not elevate this team that much.
Sigh... |

At this point losing coburn is a good thing losing games is a good thing get the best pick and go from there. You can turn it around quick look at the habs for exhibit a. On the bright side its only 48 games of misery not 82. I'm not trolling just reminding flyers fans next season can be much better with this core. |

The problem with this team is EASY to see. You have a coach that can't adapt his system to the players he has. Lavy has an attacking system and the players are good at being attacked. Whats wrong with that picture? |

Yeah but how much can you change the system with Lilja Gervais and foster.... Those guys would look bad trying to execute the trap.... The number one problem is that teams are pinning them in the zone... It goes beyond systems at this point |

One bright point is that Coots looked pretty solid for the first period and then slowly disappeared... But it's the first time I felt he was playing confident in a long time.
And we will miss Coburn in the lineup. I think the third was enough to prove he does more than a lot of fans give him credit for.
That third tying goal had me cracking up. I felt like I was watching 3 year olds bang away on it... |

Apparently we are not real fans for rooting for our nonplayoff team to get the best player in the draft.
Honestly, rooting for points at this point is basically rooting for teams to get handed better players than us. And if you're not making the playoffs what does it even matter?
And don't get me wrong, I want to see this team succeed just as badly as anyone else, but what are these points worth in the long run? These games end up being what separate your pick from being Kane to JVR. I want to see this team play as a team and show some sort of indication that team defense is a top priority. At this point that is the biggest win I can look forward to every game. |

in many ways, this yr is worse than '07 because that roster was pathetic and we had a new regime that was planning big exciting changes. i look at this roster and i don't see how we can jump back into contention w/o considerably paring down our already unproductive forward core.
while we are waiting on young players to improve we may have to watch them play their best yrs in another city hoping that the players we brought in can do the job. i know this- there won't be any kimmo and harts available for that extra 1st rndr that we don't have anyway.
i'm ready for a new direction organizationally, but as long as ed's around that seems unlikely. |

I agree.
The NHL is based on speed and playmakers.
The Flyers have a few of these but not enough.
Goaltending has been average, offense slumping, defense not very good.
Changing the makeup of this team is the only direction. That could mean a couple of things. Moving some players, signing new ones, firing the coach/GM, adding quality picks to bolster the farm. |

it's time for some stability and continuity. the roster overhauls need to stop.
i'd like to see a #1 defensemen brought in so everyone can slot in to more appropriate pairings. but that will be difficult to pull off. outside of defensive upgrades, there should only be minor tinkering. |

Play the kids.
Play them as much as possible.
Give Harry Z an extended look.
Lets see McGinn for the rest of the season.
This is Claude's first real test as captain, trying to hold a "team" together even though they aren't in the hunt for the playoffs.
No tanking! I want to see 60 minutes efforts from everyone on the ice. We haven't really seen it this year, except for maybe 1 or 2 games.
Go Flyers!!!

I agree. Patience should be the first approach. Just because it was a bad season, or the team didnt meet expectations doesnt mean you should just overhaul everything. We have a very young offensive core.. Odds are we are going to be adding a top talent again this offseason via the draft. Look to add on to this team.. not rebuild. |

time to stockpile draft picks and get some help in the minors. Homer has to stop picking up these slugs and draft for the team needs. we all know if /when the flyers get the first pick they will go for the center. |

Haven't you been one of the group of posters who has repeatedly criticized the Flyers for their lack of patience, and for failures in developing players? They made major changes and took a new direction in the trades they made, a couple of years ago. Now one bad Season, and it seems you're advocating going in another direction, and the trading of young players. Doesn't make a lot of sense |
