YES!

I don't doubt for a second Columbus would trade one of their firsts for a combination of top prospects and/or roster players.

The sad part is, we likely have nothing they want.

- wolfhounds

I'm just saying to trade a higher first for two lesser firsts, nothing to do with prospects outside the draft.

I'd be willing to trade a shot at Monahan for two first rounders. Columbus has 3. Two of them could well be in the 7-16 range. I'd give up my shot at Monahan for a shot to get two out of the group of Nurse, Pulock, Ristolainen, Zadorov, Morrissey, Shinkaruk or Mantha

So I'd trade 4 for two picks between 7-16

- Jsaquella

Ok, so in this scenario Rangers miss the playoffs. I assume no way you part with a top 3 for the 2 picks in 7-16 range?

I don't trade a top 3 pick in this draft.

Interesting idea. The first from the Rangers is likely going to be the lowest of the bunch that Columbus has, and the others will likely both be out of the top 10. Hopefully Homer can work some magic, and I'd be very curious to see if 1 top 10 pick could net 2 later first round picks.

Still, I'm not sure I do that deal. I think trading for one of those 3 Columbus picks is the better option.

Guess we'll have to see where the dice fall.

If Columbus doesn't have a pick before ten, I don't do it. I want one of Nurse, Ristolainen or Pulock around when I'm picking, otherwise, I'm grabbing Monahan

Agreed.

For some reason I'm stuck on Ristolainen, maybe because of the Finnish connection with Kimmo, assuming the kid is good enough to break into the NHL next year.

It seems unlikely Columbus is going to have a top 10 pick. Do you then try to trade for one of their 1st round picks?

Nope. It's possible we see a repeat of last year and see a run on defensemen after the top 4 or 5. If they can't get Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, Monahan, Barkov or Nichushkin, I want them to land Nurse, Pulock or Ristolainen.

It wouldn't surprise me if all of them are gone by 10 or 12 or so at the latest.

No doubt. I hope the scouts are busy at work.

I gotta go with D the first round, get one of those kids and throw him right into the bigs with Kimmo and the rest to mentor him. There will be struggles, but we need the personality who thrives on it and pushes to learn and improve.

Edit: unless Oliver proves to be a late-blooming stud.

Please, please, please...

It was brutal, but the eagle didn't go out of its way to kill the hawk, so I think future litigation is minimal.

Thats fine. I personally just dont think hes worth $6M at this point in his career. I understand that his price would be the same on the open market but that doesnt mean you have to give him it. They let Carle and Jagr both walk. Jagr I could understand bc they had a replacement but Carle was a different story.

Anyways, we all have different views on it.

I agree with you. I don't think he's worth 6M either. The problem is that the the Flyers really had little choice.

That's on Holmgren and lack of defensive depth in the farm system.

Jones might be the only one who can step right in & play in the NHL. The other two that might be ready right off the bat are Ristolainen & Pulock. but none will step in and be a stud off the bat.

Going on the assumption that the Flyers will deal some vets at the deadline andfactoring in the injuries on D, I'm pretty confident they will finish 29th or 30th and secure a top 3 pick. Hopefully they can package someone like Gagne with their 3rd and get a late 1st. Going into this draft withva top 3 pick,a lare 1st and a high 2nd would certainly ease the pain of this season.

On another note, just to make u all jealous, I am currently in Key West to enjoy a week of drinking, fishing and general debauchery!

You really think they should have a defenseman capable of replacing Timonen in the farm system?
