All your comments are fair. Just saying he sucks, is scapegoating. Exactly what you say though, the d is the priority and should be fixed this offseason. If we havea solid d corps supporting him... give him a chance to play.. if at that point he is awful, yeah cut him loose after 2014. - Hextall271
Then write off next year. With a few exceptions where he is very good, his play sucks the life out of the team. |

maybe the team defense's lackadaisical play sucks the life out of him. Ever think of that?

I doubt they have Lilja Gervais and foster on the blue line - Philly1980
Which is why they need to play a defense first trapping style .
Personally I rather see manning than lilja. Play the kids and see what you have |

So to recap, the goaltending issue still isn't solved, the team has a bunch of overpaid players prone to injury, and the pipeline is a barren wasteland.
Everyone put their shades on, the future is blindingly bright.

Diaz and Mtl 2nd for Grossman.
Diaz woul be great on the powerplay with Timonen. We need size on the backend. That would be fair. - soad_live
Based on the lack of information I assume Grossmann's injury is bad enough to rule out any trade. |

Once this season finishes.. (hopefully we end up 28-30th overall).
1. Decide on Lavi. If he's not the man, can him the day the season ends. Not all he blame is on him with Homer's massive failures, but you know who goes first.
2. Hopefully we don't lose the draft lottery.. finish 28-30 and pick 20th, but I can see it happeneing. lol
3. Work every option to sign a top dman. Maybe Yandle, etc.. this is gonna cost us... for argument's sake, we draft top 3..I say Jones is off the board because dmen are the most coveted. We get Drouin or Mckinnon. Say we get Mckinnon.. keep him, then trade Schenn and maybe next year's 1st + more picks or prospects to get your #1 dman.
4. Sign a solid backup goaltender. Someone like Biron who is more than a bench warmer and can spell Bryz for 10-15 games with a reasonable chance of winning.
5. Sign another depth Dman that can step in when needed.
6. Buy out Briere. He can't play wing, we will need the cap space. |

No way. What about this year's second? - Feanor
I personally think that he is worth more then a second, the sens took advantage of the blues misplaced faith in Brian Elliot. Bishop has 5+ years of professional development and was one of the best goalie in the AHL when he played there last. I can only base my opinion on what I have seen of him since coming into Ottawa, but he seems to have been a really reliable goalie his entire career, and there is no reason to think that wouldn't be the case if he went to Philly.

Bryzgalov's play has one of the few bright spots on the season, he's given this team a chance to win most nights. Of course, that they haven't taken that opportunity very often is another thing. |

I don't disagree with any of this. I want a new GM here as well to move forward with.

I've thought of that too. It's got to be exasperating to play goal for that team. But then you look at the numbers...Flyers have allowed the fifth most goals despite allowing the eighth fewest shots per game. Hard to figure out this team |

I have no argument with that statement, and I was only suggesting that Bishop is worth more then a single second round pick. |

That's fair, but the Flyer's second round pick will probably be between #31 and #35 overall. If Ottawa can get a first rounder out of someone else, then more power to them. |

Tell me you are joking. With a few exceptions, he's kept the team in it. People can't expect that a goalie can do it all. Sometimes I think we could have Lundqvist here and people would blame him.. |

He was playing well at the beginning of the year but lately he's been average at best imo. Too inconsistant for the money being invested. Not enough bang for the buck. |

Hey Bill,
There is good news with some of the prospects.....Scott Laughton, had 4 pts again last night as the Generals took a 3-1lead over Niagara in their playoff series....he won player of the week last week for his first two games and now has 11 points in 4 games....he may have more offence then you seem to think he has.....I honestly think he is easily 2nd line center NHL, if not higher....think a Doug Gilmour.
The young goalie Stolarz has also been great so far in the playoffs as he continues to back the London Knights....they are definatley on a crash course to meet...both are Memorial cup contenders. They swept Saginaw.
Nick cousins had 3 goals in the first 4 games as well....they are in tough with Owen Sound.
But it is Laughton who has taken his game to another level....this kid could be a heck of a lot more then what I keep hearing....right now.....Holmgren can't possibly consider moving him. - landros 2
So Laughton has 2 solid weeks (offensively) in a row, and now he is getting compared to Doug Gilmore? |

Use Bill's example of Lehtonen in Dallas. His gga and save % are always good and he seems to always keep his team in games even without a great blueline.
I dont watch enough Stars games to see if they are better defensively with their style of play but when I look at the roster i'm not jumping for joy. |
