ah i see briere is the undisputed #1 though

Just being cautious. You only get two compliance buy outs. No need to grab Kaberle and waste one on him after 15 games.

Flyers should go out and get a solid backup or future rookie number 1 goalie. If Bryz sucks next year buy him out. I would buyout Briere and his cap hit if they want a defender in free agency.

Mezaros and Coburn should not be bought out, both can be traded, and both have suffered tremendously from lack of training camp, injuries and shorten season.

Meszaros shouldn't be because he's only got one year left...that's a waste.

For anyone who wasn't there, this was fan appreciation day. That includes the Flyers' players giving the jersey off their backs to fans. My wife was lucky enough to be selected. They give each person an envelope and they open it on the ice.
She's a huge Mike Knuble fan. She didn't get Mike Knuble.
She's a big Max Talbot fan. He was already gone by the time they go to her.
She thinks Wayne Simmonds is hot. He was also already taken.
So she had to settle for Claude Giroux's jersey.

Snider all but said Bryz is staying

As well he should. Despite all the comments blaming him for our bad season, he's been solid..If they want to buy him out for cap reasons next offseason go ahead.

true, but if he can stay healthy and get some games in. He can turn into the solid defender he was when he won the Ashbee award.

Yeah, they all signed it (each player signed his jersey). She was giddy. I may have been giddier. I was so happy for her.

Here's why I believe Lava is in trouble. Defintely not all of his fault, but each year the Flyers have gotten progressively worse in this his fourth year (certainly injuries have hurt this year). Second, outside of Read, B. Schenn and Coots haven't shown significant improvement. Are they just not that good, not sure? Finally, the biggest problem is I see is that the Flyers have been absolutely owned by the Rangers and Debs the last two years. You have to beat teams in your own division.

That is fantastic. I got Giroux to sign my Giroux jersey last year after a game. I also was fortunate to get 13 other players to sign it along with Lavy. This was thanks to Matt Read and his family. I was giddy for weeks!

I think Lava gets the boot. As the Debs under DeBoer have shown Uncle Ed, you can have a pretty agressive forechecking system and play positionally sound defensive hockey. That certainly hasn't happened this year with the Flyers.

Damn diddn't realize the game was on. Just missed it. Damn it. Hey any thoughts to trying to pick Kaberle off of waivers? If Coburn is out for the season and LTIR, that could work.
- flyler

Flyers have the Cap space to take on Kaberle even without placing Coburn on LTIR

I'd have no problem with the Flyers getting Kaberle, but only if the Canadiens would take Briere 1-for-1.

I'd rather have the full Cap space available. If I could trade Briere, unless it was a good younger player. I'd be looking for a deal that did not take any salary in return. And if not, then use the buyout.

Yeah. I met Matt Read's dad at a work conference.. he offered to get matt to sign me in to meet him and the team in Boston. We met Matt, who was fantastic, and my gf and I both got our jerseys signed by most of the team plus lavi.. It was fantastic.
