Bullpoop.... That's what getting a top 5 pick for 5 years in a row does....they have prospects coming out of the ass... Flyers aren't as patient as the pens - Philly1980
So you don't think he's a good GM?
Don't want to mix your words up. |

I agree Marc. Talbot is a good player at a reasonable cap hit. I would keep him, unless someone overwhelms you. Guys who are UFA's should be dealt for picks/prospects. - PLindbergh31
If someone offers a late first round pick for Talbot, would you take it and don't look back? |

Big blow for Pens. Shero will have to go out and rob another unsuspecting GM blind again. - PLindbergh31
Could be our chance to move Lilja for a couple of racks of ribs from DeeJay's!!! |

Load the farm system up. Think on this for a minute and look at the current roster. How many players have been developed by the Flyers system? |

I doubt a beer league team would be interested in Lilja, let alone the Pens.
I would absolutely call Shero to see if he would have any interest in Timonen. The answer would probably be no. Reason being he's signed at a ridiculous cap hit next season. |

Hell yeah. I think getting a 3rd rounder is more realistic. |

How confident are you of any player they pick after round one?
The first rounders turn out great, but who was the last gem unearthed in the draft beyond the first pick? |

Oh, I bet they would take Kimmo in a heartbeat.
Their top D pair is injured right now! |

Talbot is under contract through 2015-16. The Flyers should be a contending team by then. I think I would need an NHL ready player back if I'm trading Talbot. |

Excellent point. The scouting department has to be questioned. You have to be able to draft past the first round. |

Bill,
Holmgren turned around the 06-07 mess very quickly. Can it be done again?Looking at the rest of the competition, it seems like it might be years before the Flyers are serious contenders. - 2731color
It can be done easily because this team is not a mess. Defense is the only pressing issue. Homer just has to go out sign some above average. We got:
Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossman
Meszaros-?
We get a capable guy who is not Gervais, Foster, Lilja or Gus. We will be fine. I would also look for Homer to look to add a guy to play top 2 minutes. I would keep Schenn there and let him get better but drop Timonen down to 2nd pair. This defenseman has to be offensive minded, who can move the puck.
I'm going pray that Nashville is forced to use their buyout on Weber or trade him.....Everyone else should as well, it will take a lot of praying |

maybe conditional 2nd rounder if they win two playoff series or something like that?
I guess I'd keep Max if it's just a third rounder. |

If he was a UFA next year I'm sure they would have interest. With all the players they have to re-sign (including Letang) Timonen's cap hit next year would be something they wouldn't want to take on. |

Talbot is a good role player. The Flyers can find another player of that caliber even if they traded him for prospects.

Possible. I'm not sure he lands a second round pick. He's a nice role player who can play on the PK. So your conditional 2nd rounder isn't a bad idea. |

For a team contending in the East to put a player on waivers puts up a red flag. They should be looking to add players at this point. Kaberle must not be very good. |

He's only played 10 games this year. Not sure if he's been injured, or a healthy scratch. Habs feel he's not in their top 7. |

You know, Engelland will be UFA the same time as Orpik, Malkin, Letang, Kunitz, and Niskanen. He'd be better as a #6 D then what the Flyers have now. |

He's pretty bad, but Pitt might want him as a rental unless Letang is coming back soon.
If I were deciding, I'd just let Despres run with it and not take Kaberle. |
