What's the point really? I'm sure Grossmann will be back sooner than later. Although his injury could be a concussion. There is no reason to add anything unless it makes sense for next year. - PLindbergh31
well, of course ... I'm not saying they just acquire a rental player. Someone who can help this year AND for the next year or two would make sense. |

Thanks for the info. I'm of the mindset you have to be lucky enough to draft a true #1 stud d-man, I just think there are so few examples in trades or free agency to get one before or during their prime.
With that being written, I want to see this defense add a little more puck carrying ability some day. We have a enough stay at home, shot blocking d-men. Honestly, I like Yandle as the best option. - ravishingone
I'm with you. So hard to find these top pairing guys. No one wants to trade established guys, unless they get a massive return. The best way to get one is to draft and cultivate one using patience. These 5 points in the last 3 games probably will cost them in their draft position. If they could get a kid like Nurse that wouldn't be bad. He may develop into something solid. |

Guys who aren't UFA's come with heavy price tags. Unless the Flyers are willing to move Schenn, Couturier, or Read there is no way to bring back anything of merit. I'm sure if they were willing to part with their first round pick (projected to be in top 10) it could bring back a roster player. |

I am you guys as well the only defenseman I would even consider would be Yandle, but I am still conflicted when the Flyers win. I love the fight I saw today, but I really want a good pick this year because this is a draft where you can setup your franchise for sucess for years to come like 2003.....IDK i am so conflicted and confused |

Yep. Burns cap hit makes him an albatross. |

Rooting for losses is tough to do. Play hard, compete for 60 minutes every game and let the chips fall where they may. |

You have to be a little lucky. Weber was a second rounder. Sutter mid-first round. Kimmo a tenth rounder. Fowler for Anaheim slid in the first round. Not impossible to get a great d-man outside of the top 5.
This team hasn't had a real puck handling d-man since Pitakenan and before that an aging Coffey. It's a dynamic they sorely lack.

agreed completely
the only time the whole draft position thing comes into play for me is just to lessen the sting immediately after a loss. |

Desjardins was pretty good, definitely a suitable #1. But yeah, they've been few and far between. |

we'll see. I think Homer finds a way to add a top 4 D man to the roster. |

I think I read that Talbot wasn't cut. Any info there? I don't think I've ever seen a player literally carried to the locker room. |

Rico was tremendous for years, but he wasn't going to back a defense up with him lugging the puck. In every other aspect of the game, he was tremendous. |

Yeah. Def. I would be more annoyed if Flyers wins help the Rags get in the playoffs, opposed to the draft position.
There is no honor in not competing when you are a pro athlete. These guys are too prideful to lay down and not try. With the exception of 2 games or so, this team has busted their asses this year. |

I'm not rooting for losses. Its just I am in a mindset that its a retooling year and looking forward to the lottery and yet now we may make the playoffs....cmon |

I hear you. I think their inability or lack of success in drafting dmen have them a little gun shy of drafting the position in the first two rounds. I agree with the draft the best available regardless of position theory and their track record developing forwards is solid. That said they have to start finding dmen who can contribute in the draft. |

I don't believe there will be any chance at winning the lottery. I would be ecstatic with a top 5 pick. |

With players literally dropping like flies, right now this isn't a playoff caliber roster, despite the solid efforts and 5 points in the last 3 games. |

I know. I just don't see them winning the lottery. I know it's not impossible, but it probably won't be likely. |
