With players literally dropping like flies, right now this isn't a playoff caliber roster, despite the solid efforts and 5 points in the last 3 games.

I hear you. I think their inability or lack of success in drafting dmen have them a little gun shy of drafting the position in the first two rounds. I agree with the draft the best available regardless of position theory and their track record developing forwards is solid. That said they have to start finding dmen who can contribute in the draft.

I like what I have seen from Ghost in college. Looking forward to him graduating to the AHL. Unfortunately, I think MAB could have been a very good contributor, but his concussion problems are a serious concern. They missed the mark on Marshall and that hurt because it cost them two second rounders. For the love of god, I don't want to see them scratch Lauridsen if Grossmann makes it back. Allow him to work through his mistakes, the guy has great size and decent mobility.

I think I read that Talbot wasn't cut. Any info there? I don't think I've ever seen a player literally carried to the locker room.
- jmatchett383

It didn't look good. Talbot is tough as nails, for him to allow himself to be carried off is a terrible sign. I'm sure the injury will most likely be worst case scenario. Isn't it always?

That's the scary thing, that it's so up in the air right now. If they win versus Montreal, they're right in the middle of it all and carrying a 3-game winning streak. But I'm just worried about how long they can keep it up with this defense. Not a knock on any of the players, but as it stands right now, it's shaky to say the least. But hey, keep up the effort, you never know.

I don't think Lauridsen would be the scratch. Most likely Huskins.

I hope so, I like what I see from the kid even with the early rookie mistakes

If there is a trade to be had that improves the team for this year and beyond, I'm all for it, trading assets for rentals to try and sneak in the playoffs isn't very smart imo.

The idea of the trade deadline is to add to your team, with the Flyers constant injuries year after year, what it turns into is trying to replace guys instead of adding to the nucleus.

You would hope, but being in the middle of a playoff race, a head coach tends to lean the vet as opposed to the rookie. I hope I'm wrong because Lauridsen at least has the potential of a future with the Flyers. Huskins, not so much.

I thought Huskins played decently today. Though I like Lauridsen long term, he definitely made a few rookie mistakes today and yesterday. He might not be the wisest choice IF they're truly hoping for the 8th seed.

In the last 10 days the Flyers lost 3 of their top 5 dmen, and 2 of their top 9 forwards. And most to significant injuries.

That is the theatre of the absurd, even for them.

It seems like more of the same old same old to me.
Talbot's looked ugly, maybe it's his knee.

They showed a lot of fight coming back when down to 10 forwards in the third period.

A lot of fight. I just hope Talbot is ready for camp next year.

Yeah. When it happens year after year, there is no reason to expect it to change anytime soon.

just once i'd like to see the team give the injury reaper the finger and win the whole (frank)ing thing with a roster of ECHL players.

Im a fan of Gagne. On one hand I'd like to see him back. On the other I question how much of that leadership he can provide and I'd kind of like someone with more grit. I'd be more inclined toward someone like Jagr, Morrow or Byod Gordon. To a lesser extent Handzus, Dupuis, Cleary, and Sullivan as well.

When I think of what guys like Lappy brought for example. In terms of leadership. Gagne's name doesnt scream out to me.

- flyer_nutter

How about coming back from injury to score GW goals in the 2010 playoffs? That shows some grit and leadership imo. I've been impressed with Gagne. He's a savvy veteran, two-way player who can slot in on any line and play in any situation...he's not going hurt you (only help you) defensively and is still a pretty effective special teams player...while he may not be a big hitter, he's not soft and doesn't show much of any ill effects from his concussions. I'd look to re-sign somewhere around 3 mil per yr. for 2 yrs...or maybe 2.75 for 3yrs max.

...been tied up most of the day.

Wow! where was this no quit earlier this season?
for all of their F***ups, the compete level has been there the last few games and that's what matters most to me.

let's see how they deal w/ a team that's riding high like MTL. looking forward to it

we'll see. I think Homer finds a way to add a top 4 D man to the roster.
- FlyerGuy

I think the answer is Yandle. He is a great puckmover who can pass out of his zone and spring the offense. Thats exactly what we need.

Read + 3rd --> Laughton?
I love Read but I would consider this. Its a tough call. Im really unsure what I would do. Both players are in their primes and playing great hockey. There is two questions: Will the team be able to make up the offense of Read? Will Yandle (mostly) fix our defense? <- Not really sure

that's a quandary, considering that read is the only forward that consistently applies back pressure...obvi playing 200 ft. the guy does everything fairly well...very useful player. would want a complete dman if he's included and i'm not sure yandle fits that description.
