How about coming back from injury to score GW goals in the 2010 playoffs? That shows some grit and leadership imo. I've been impressed with Gagne. He's a savvy veteran, two-way player who can slot in on any line and play in any situation...he's not going hurt you (only help you) defensively and is still a pretty effective special teams player...while he may not be a big hitter, he's not soft and doesn't show much of any ill effects from his concussions. I'd look to re-sign somewhere around 3 mil per yr. for 2 yrs...or maybe 2.75 for 3yrs max. - exlund
Gagne will now replace Talbot on the PK, and probably step right in and not miss a beat. |

Best part was when he corrected Coatsy.

Thanks for the link. That's awesome. Just loved the "hold on", then coming right back to the same point in the convo and finishing his answer without missing a beat. Classic.
Also, don't look now but Oliver Lauridsen is undefeated as a Flyer.
So is Kent Huskins.
Although Lauridsen's streak is much more impressive given that it's twice as long. |

that's a quandary, considering that read is the only forward that consistently applies back pressure...obvi playing 200 ft. the guy does everything fairly well...very useful player. would want a complete dman if he's included and i'm not sure yandle fits that description. - isaiah520
Who would you want instead for that price? and I only through yandle's name out there because he is on the trade block and could be had |

My thought is that it is going to cost a lot more for Yandle then Read and a 3rd round pick. Pheonix is likely going to ask for one of B Schenn, Couturier, or Voracek in the deal.

I think I would also. I like Yandle. He has some skills that would no doubt aid the Flyers. But I want a player who can play in more situations.

If they get MacKinnon, then I think B Schenn is gone. |

Maybe so. But they have to get MacKinnon first. I really know nothing about MacKinnon. But hypothetically, if they draft a Forward that can step right into the NHL. It makes sense that it would make a young forward available in a trade.

The Briere and Coburn-less Flyers don't look like they will pick top 3. But I suppose with the newlotto anything can happen. |

It'll be tough to both make the playoffs and get MacKinnon. |

Doubtful. Holmgren knows this team has too many holes. He will try and fix the problem(s) in the offseason. |

He's definitely part of it. Snider might mandate he fix an issue like a goalie problem but it's up to Holmgren to negotiate the terms of the deal, ie, years and cap hit. And almost all the time, Holmgren outbids himself and overpays in both years and cap hit.
His talent evaluation when it comes to forwards is among the best. But he needlessly throws away 2nd and 3rd rd picks, overpays for UFA's, can't draft dmen and goalies.
I think he'd make a good assistant GM to a more shrewd GM. |

I offer 2 years 4 million. I think he takes it with no issues at all.

Wow.
Maybe they should try to create havoc in front of the net a little more often instead of the BS perimeter stuff. - flyer_nutter
I would be happiest if they'd just stop the wild horizontal pass across the front of the net to no one. Never works. Often turns to odd man rush the other way.
Fun time last night for most of the game. |
