Im pretty sure Hartnell has a NMC so hes not going anywhere. I also dont think he would move it.
Also despite Hartnell's lack of sucess this season I still think he important to the lockeroom. He brings that energy. Imagine the leadership we would have without him.... |

Maybe.
I don't think Hartnell alone would bring back the top pair defenseman.
But I do believe he has a lot of value and is regarded highly around the league.
I am throwing his name out there, because right now I'd rather keep the two young centers and Read for long term over Hartnell, especially if trading him brings back a guy to replace Kimmo. For the right defenseman I wouldn't be opposed to packaging Hartnell and a high pick in the 2014 draft.
The reason I am not opposed to trading him to fill a bigger need is I don't over value him. I think he got a fair payday, but the length was a bit long on his current deal. - Marc D
i think you're assessment of hartnell is spot on, and i argued many of the same points last week when pointing out that i'd rather move hartnell as part of a rebuild than any of the young guys like schenn, or couturier
obviously i'd want a a lot for him, and i think it's unlikely that the flyers are gonna be placing him on the block, but i'd certainly rather explore moving hartnell than the kids |

I wouldnt do Hartnell and a 1st for Giordano, but I bring up Calgary because of Feaster.
Holmgren should be on the phone trying to rape this guy. - flyer_nutter
Feaster has to get a ransom back for Jaybo, and if he traded Gio for less then full value he will be fired. |

Any chance we snag Kaberle? I'd like to see him get picked up. If we did, we'd get him at 1/2 of his salary, or no? |

I know, it seems very unlikely.
I do think the management here loves him, inconsistencies and all.

Agree.
Find guys for up and down the line up that play every shift like Rinaldo has this season. - Marc D
Exactly, I just threw names out of my head because I plan on watching them more in the playoffs. Guys like Morrow, Murray (or Jagr if he is dealt). Not limited to these players specifically, but I strongly believe the way for this organization to go is to find the young talent in the draft.
Sorround that talent with the right veteran leadership, or players that play the game consistently and the right way. Let that infuse into the kids, and boom. Make trades that only bring in players that fit your mold. A model for the future.
If only I could send it to Snider.
Edit: I see the young kids on this team, unguided. Unguided by coaching staff and by too many (not all) of the veterans that sorround them, on how to play the right way. That needs to change. |

A team sitting in the cellar?
Frankly I dont care if a guy is good to the locker-room by being goofy. I care more about a highly paid veteran guy being good on the ice as a role model, and being one of those leaders that initiate turnarounds. |

Gio is solid. They might want Hartnell + first for him.
Tobias Enstrom, Alex Edler, Voynov.
Lots of guys out west I like. - Marc D
Voynov is probably on LA's untouchable list. Enstrom and Edler just got extended, but could be pried away. |

On teaching and guidance:
The NHL network had a great show on a week or so ago.
It showed Michel Therrien going over video one on one with PK Subban.
They were teaching him when to make the hit, and when to retrieve the puck and forget about the hit. It was superb emphasis on a tiny but important point.
I loved the guidance they were giving their up and coming star. I'm sure the Flyers do it too. With Rinaldo, they have made him into a viable NHL player.
How do you feel about Gagne?
I watch him play, and he really is very sound positionally.
He is a good vet to have around these kids.
He is maybe too injury prone to offer more then a 1 year deal, but I think he is a guy I want them to bring back, especially to play with Couterier. |

I'll agree with this. Fan favorite, has a Cup ring (although it's a bit iffy), great positionally, and can still put the puck in the net when given prime chances (although far removed for back-to-back 40 goal season). One year at around $3 or so would be nice. |

Agreed. It can be done, but I'm not willing to give up what either would take. It probably starts with Hartnell and goes from there. |

Vancouver would like to send Ballard for Hartnell.
Enstrom they will ask for Giroux.

Im a fan of Gagne. On one hand I'd like to see him back. On the other I question how much of that leadership he can provide and I'd kind of like someone with more grit. I'd be more inclined toward someone like Jagr, Morrow or Byod Gordon. To a lesser extent Handzus, Dupuis, Cleary, and Sullivan as well.
When I think of what guys like Lappy brought for example. In terms of leadership. Gagne's name doesnt scream out to me. |

I think a bottom 6 is perfect for him. He could be a Talbot-type player. Throw him out for 15-18 minutes a game, let him hustle, throw a few hits, be responsible defensively, and chip in a few goals along the way. - jmatchett383
I like a 4th line of McGinn-Laughton-Rinaldo next season. Limit the kids minutes, let them take on other 3rd and 4th lines, no pressure. |

Enstrom is always getting hurt. Not interested.
I brought up Ehrhoff yesterday. He's on quite a long deal but his cap hit is just 4mil, which will be an absolute steal in the coming years. I'd prefer him over Bouwmeester or Yandle too. |

Winnipeg is a poophole that cant attract anyone other than Olli Jokinen.
They know they have to build through the draft.
You will have to overpay to get anything from there. |
