I think it was Campoli and Comrie for a first and McAmmond, no? I just think Streit is more valuable to the team than anything less than a first...especially if there's a glimmer of hope for the playoffs. There will be a glimmer of hope by the time the deadline hits no matter what happens. Last year with PA, the isles were in a much different situation. - Charlie21

This is where people get set up to get pissed for no reason. Everyone is setting the bar at a 1st rounder but I just don't think the market over the last couple of years has set his price that high. At his age and with his defensive liabilities, combined with the lack of moving 1st rounders for dmen these days, I think a 2nd is more likely...of course I still think he gets signed. |

Again, if Vanek is on the block, they are going to want at least a pick and a prospect or two...that's the deal you might have to make, and I'm pretty sure I would, as long as Wang is willing to write that check. On a line with Tavares, he'd be a top scorer in the league. That's a player who would upgrade us significantly, and at some point, some of the largesse we've acquired over the last three or four years in the draft needs to be put to use. You can only dress 18 and 2, so we can't have 6 centers and 9 right wings or whatever on the team, anyway. We might as well move forward, now that it's pretty clear what we need to do so. - dcb1
Completely agree with this........Vanek is a special player. Vanek with Tavares would be sickkkkkk. Unfortunately I don't see wang taking on that contract. This years first and a prospect for Vanek........how do u not do that??? |

A second rounder alone would be a steal for Streit, especially because it would likely be a later second round pick.
The Boston Globe had this to say on Streit:
Streit would command a steep price. Interest around the league in the smooth-moving defenseman is high. The Bruins would most likely have to part with picks and prospects to outbid other contenders
I'm OK with not getting a first. I don't necessarily expect one in a deep draft year. A 2nd rounder, another pick, and a mid-level prospect from the B's would be fine by me. |

Disagree........"if" snowy moved Streit (who may I remind everyone is still the captain) that team would have to wow the isles. They're in the playoff race, and can still sign him before July 1 |

They're going to be neither. Only way Streit is getting moved is if they hit some major impasse and talks go way south in the next ~24 hours.
Isles aren't going to buy anything this year. |

My point was they aren't gonna be sellers. Streit is an important part of the PP.

Rental players don't often fetch particularly high prices. A few picks in a deep draft year and a pretty good prospect is fair value.
Brenden Morrow was Dallas' captain. |

Isles don't need picks......they need pts. Streit on the PP with viz will help them get those pts needed to make the playoffs. Dallas is in a completely diff situation than the isles who are desperate to finally make the playoffs. If the isles didn't trade PAP last year, what makes anyone think they'll move Streit?

Bcs pap was a colossal (frank) up on snows part. I'm hoping he learned to not let that happen again. |

How is Dallas not in a similar situation? They're two points out of a playoff spot in the West. The fact that they've made the playoffs a few times in recent years is irrelevant. They're weighing their options on trading/not trading Jagr too.
And I never saw Dreger mention anything re: a cut-off date/time for Parenteau to determine his trade status last year. A half hour ago Dreger did so on twitter, regarding Streit.
I'm not saying he's definitely going to be traded or should be traded. But if he is, don't expect a king's ransom for a 35 year old rental player on an expiring contract. |

I just don't see Snow trading Streit when they're 2pts out of the 8th spot. I don't see the logic..... |

Someone mentioned when do the rosters expand on a past post. Per Arthur Staple:
"Rosters can expand after Wednesday's trade deadline, so the Islanders can carry as many extra players as they like."
I would think Nelson, Strome, Nino and/ or Donovan could be brought up after Wednesday... |

Dallas is not as desperate as the isles to make the playoffs. Dallas also has veteran leadership without morrow. The isles are lacking in that department. Again I say.....how anyone can expect snow to trade Streit based on his past moves (or lack there of) is not logical. Smart money says streit resigns.... |

Nobody should expect it, I never disagreed with that. And the smart money does say that Streit re-signs, I didn't disagree with that either. In fact, I don't think I've seen a single person, here or in the media, say that they expect Streit will be moved. |

He very well may not but if he can't get him signed to a reasonable yr wise contract then he may trade him and he should. |

You can still discuss his value even if he may not be traded. I don't think he will be but the fact is if they are miles apart on a deal, it's a real possibility. I have no doubt several teams have inquired about his availability/asking price should he not be re-signed. Snow should at least listen and entertain everything. If he doesn't then he's not planning for all scenarios and that's a problem. |

I'll be thrown into a bathtub filled with acid, but yes, I make that trade. You gotta give to get. Vanek is a proven elite player.
Side note : vanek on the left side of the PP as the right shot, would be deadly with JT, streit, viz, and moulson in front of the net. |

There's no doubt teams are inquiring.....he's a top pair PP specialist who comes at a reasonable price. But unless someone wows snowy......Streit finishes the season in orange and blue. |

Anders Lee not in the lineup tonight. I kinda figured they'd need to give him some practice time and whatnot with the team, but I was kinda looking forward to the possibilty of seeing him play. Aucoin and Reasoner are the bottom two centers instead.
