Quite the conspiracy there. Do you really think a GM would keep a coach on when he is purposely trying to sabotage the team for his own gain?
It was an embarrassing situation because the Flyers let it get to that point. Bob was just a casualty of it getting that bad. Any other org with patience would've let Bob ride it out. The Flyers were afraid of Bob turning out bad, and being in the same situation. THey got sick of their own poop. Again, not on Lavi. - feelingkettle
I never said he was purposefully trying to sabotage the team for his own gain. That's asinine. He did it out of panic and frustration trying to win and yes, he should have been fired for it. I'm sure, somehow in your mind, mismanaging assets is not on the coach.
Well you obviously have his back and he can do no wrong so there's no use trying to convince you.

Sorry, you're saying Lavi handled Bobs well? He gets none of the blame for riding him during the regular season and jerking his chain in the POs?
Bobs gets yanked in the 2nd game after this:
Boucher relieved Sergei Bobrovsky 12:30 into the first period after Andrej Sekera scored off a 3-on-1 rush to put the Sabres ahead 3-2.
Then doesn't play again until the next round against Boston. Didn't he even get sent to the press box for a game or 2? Yeah, that seems like a reasonable way to handle your goalie.

You said:
I still say he did it because he was unhappy with his goalies and wanted to force the hand of management. The goalie situation that playoffs was hockey news all over the two countries and it was an embarrassment to the organization and Laviolette orchestrated it.
That to me means he did it on purpose. Maybe sabotage was a strong word, but what you're saying was he was trying to embarrass the team on purpose. So you could say he was trying to sabotage Homer. That is quite a charge there.
Well you obviously have his back and he can do no wrong so there's no use trying to convince you.
Please try and read what I actually write. I have said Lavi mismanaged the goalies in that playoff round. That to me is not saying he can do no wrong. But I am not going to blame him for what happened to Bob or the signing of Bryz. Unless Bob played lights out (which was unlikely and unreasonable to expect), they were probably going to go after a top goalie anyway.
Again, I do say that Lavi mismanaged the goalies. I will also say he didn't have much in the way of goalies to manage at that point. I'm not going to lay the blame on a coach for one playoff round, meanwhile the Flyers have years of doing poop with goalies.

Never said Lavi handled Bob well. What I said was I'm not going to solely blame him for the course the team decided to take that offseason.
Agreed. This is exactly what I'm saying. Lavi mishandled the goalies for a playoff round. The FLyers have been mishandling goalies for years. A good player gets traded away, and some blame Lavi? Oh boy. - feelingkettle
Saw this after my other other post up top...
Regardless, I know management pulled the trigger because of a lack of patience, and I also know part of it was Lavi's fault. As soon as Lavi sent Bobs to the press box, it was the beginning of the end for him here.

I blame Lavi solely for his horrid mishandling of Bobrovsky; I blame the entire Flyers organization, including Lavi, for trading him.

Meh, the GM is not obligated to trade a player when he gets one game in the doghouse. That would just fit with the pattern of overall impatience when it comes to goalies.
I think the Flyers just didnt' want to wait out Bob's development either way. It was another risk, which is why they wanted to bring in a "sure bet" like Bryz. I don't see much changing in the past unless Bob played lights out, which was unreasonable to expect.

Well he didn't pull his starting goalie in game two by accident. You act like the coach has absolutely no effect on management decisions on players. You have to know that's not true.

Sweet mother of pearl...that announcer was going on like he killed someone. sheesh - Scoob
a couple of weeks ago, i broke my stick in half on the post with a two hander. then i threw the shaft into the stands. only 2 people were sitting there, so i had some room.

This.
This whole "What happened to Bob?" thing is really taking more energy than it needs to.

Meh, again, hard to put a lot of blame on the coach for one mismanaged playoff round. The org was already in a bad spot if they were pinning their hopes on a first year in NA rookie. But that's par the course for the Flyers. Hard for me to blame the coach when there's an organizational history with that stuff.

I'm sure the coach has some say in personell. I also expect the GM is not dumb enough to decide a player's future on one bad playoff round.

Meh, so now you're saying the organization set up Bobrovsky to fail? And you can't put a lot of blame on the coach for one mismanaged playoff round?
Listen, you should try reading what you're writing.

When your 80 year old owner makes a decision on one mismanaged playoff round you, as a GM, do what you're told.
