@RandyJMiller: Apparently Stars turned down 2 No. 2s from a team for Jagr & won't deal unless blown away. Very unlikely he return ... - isaiah520
I don't think this team needs the Jagr security blankie, but 2 No. 2s for him?
Nieuwendyk is delusional if he thinks he's getting better return than that. |

Meh, so now you're saying the organization set up Bobrovsky to fail? And you can't put a lot of blame on the coach for one mismanaged playoff round?
Listen, you should try reading what you're writing. - mayorofangrytown
I didn't say they set him up to fail. I'm just saying that they didn't put him in a good spot. I blame the coach for mismanaging the goalies. I've always said that. But I don't blame him for what happened to Bob after, because I would hope a solid organization would not base the future of the club and the development of a player based on one playoff round. It was his first year in NA, he was a rookie, and he was either going to be Bernie Parent reincarnated, or they were going to get a "sure bet" in goal, because they hadn't had one in years. |

The same people who are up in arms about Bob now are probably the same people who were crapping themselves when JvR was on his hot streak to start the year. JvR's since come crashing back down to earth, as expected. Bob (and the BJ's) will be re-entering the atmosphere in t-minus 10...9...8... - Tomahawk

When your 80 year old owner makes a decision on one mismanaged playoff round you, as a GM, do what you're told. - mayorofangrytown
See, in that case, I would blame the owner and the GM more so than the coach. |

He's also foolish to think Jagr is going to re-sign there. I'd be really surprised if Jagr pins the languishing years of his NHL career on a 2013 deadline seller.
It doesn't make sense. |

You must have some pretty fancy blinders on that horse head of yours to keep traveling down that dusty road.
I just don't see how you can say on one hand he mishandled the situation and on the other hand say he's not at all responsible for the repercussions of the mess you yourself admit he created.
On the other hand my wife would love to have you on speed dial for one of our arguments. |

Do we have any 2nd rounders? I thought we traded them all away forever when we got Gratton? |

JvR's back to his average of just over .5pt/game despite getting 20% more TOI w/ the Leafs and a prime role on the PP. Outside of a couple of hot streaks, there's still no discernible development to his game.

You like those personal attacks, eh?
I guess what it comes down to is that I would hope an organization is competent enough to not base the development and course of the team based on how a coach uses 3 goalies who were all playing like poop.
Lavi did mismanage the goalies, but that starts and ends at that playoff round. Why I cannot blame him is that this team has not shown in 30+ years that it knows what it's doing with goalies. To me, that's a little ridiculous to pin that on the coach. Homer put Bob in that situation. Bob floundered, so did Laviolette. Just like one playoff round shouldn't have decided Bob's fate, one playoff round shouldn't have put all the blame on Lavi.
Unless Bob played lights out, they were going to bring in a "sure thing" goalie. But that's only because they couldn't afford to take another risk in goal, after they had been doing that for years. So to me, to pin it on Lavi after he mismanaged one playoff round, doesn't seem fair to me. |
