How is Bob, a guy who is fresh off the boat, can't speak English, never worked with a goalie coach before, has a shaky/quirky technical foundation, thrust into a situation where he can conceivably win the starting job out of camp on a team with Cup aspirations?

And, as you mentioned, what exactly is Lavi supposed to do when all three goaltenders predictably aren't up to the task at the most critical time of the season? How do you coach yourself out of that quandary?

JvR's back to his average of just over .5pt/game despite getting 20% more TOI w/ the Leafs and a prime role on the PP. Outside of a couple of hot streaks, there's still no discernible development to his game.

I'd start with not throwing the goalie who performed the lion's share of the work getting your team into the post-season under the bus and sitting him in the press box because of 1 bad playoff game.

It's no secret that the Flyers are all in on winning the Cup this season, and Bob has been a huge part of the regular season success. He was even great in Game 1, while Game 2 was just a mess all around. It's not as if Bob was any worse than Ryan Miller was in Game 1, yet the two are obviously different animals.

1. I'd say sure we could use Brent Burns if the asking price wasn't astronomical. But since it probably would be no thanks.
2. Hartnell has been playing hurt this season and has been on our highest/strongest scoring line for the past 3 years. It's not because he sucks and brings nothing to the table. I don't want him to fight, I want him to score and yap.
3. I want to see Laughton play next season as our 4th possibly 3rd line center. However Coots has the potential to be more. It's not a coincidence that every GM asks for him first. A sophomore slump isn't anything to can him over. And besides who else puts grit in Malkin's jock strap the way he does?

Exactly! I'd take Burns (I don't love the cap hit) but he won't solve our actual defensive issues. This kid clearly loves fighting a little too much and favors those players. He's had it out for Coots since day 1 of this season. I wish this was an April Fools Joke but sadly, it isn't.
