This team has played very well in the last 2 games. If they play like that consistently, they can beat anyone.
That said, it's definitely a bit of a longshot to make the playoffs. As well as the D has looked, I don't know how long it can hold up. Talbot will be missed sorely on both the 3rd/4th line and the PK. The whole host of injuries in general is pretty scary.
I'm not saying to tank the season, but I just don't think they should do anything. Heck, it's almost a must that Knuble plays now, as well as McGinn and Gervais. Don't sell yourself short on a possible playoff bid, but don't sell out for veterans at the same time. If this team makes the playoffs, I'd prefer they do it with what they have, hopefully it brings a kind of "Us Against The World" mentality. |

They've played very well, but this style of play won't "beat anyone". But it helps our chances, certainly. Here's to hoping this is the launching pad to a deep playoff run and we shore up some of the recurring mistakes. |

No player in the draft is certain. Furthermore it could take upwards of 5 years for them to reach their potential. The team in no way shape or form needs to tank or forego the chance of making the postseason just to select one player who has played 0 seconds in the big league. - JoeRussomanno
im willing to wait to make sure its down right....its also not "certain" you will make the playoffs....if we dont id rather restock our depleted farm system, so when we do contend or injuries occur, we wont be relying on the likes of lilja, foster, gervais.

He's been largely invisible all year anyway, except for the OT winner against Carolina earlier in the year.
I don't like kicking a guy when he's down; especially a guy that's been pretty good here.
But yeah, I think they need to figure out what to do with Briere, his large contract, and meh play during the regular season. |

Which Danny? The one from previous years? Or the one who showed up like a beaten monkey after the lockout?
EDIT: G'damn pod people give me back my dark eyed assassin scorer... |

I disagree, they just beat two teams playing "ok" hockey right now. I do agree with most of the other things in this post. Injuries= not their year. I would sell sell sell if it is even worth it.
Edit: it might not be worth it with the potential returns. |

most consistant two way line they have at the current time
I'd still see what picks they could get, just saying Knoobs and Gags and even Rusty have been solid players of late |

I guess its prefference man...neither you or i know whats the best for this team. We can speculate, sure....
One thing though that is a fact is that this teams farm system is barren....most prospects project to be third liners at best.
if its a choice of making the playoffs and getting bounced in the first round (your not winning a cup with lilja, foster, gervais), i choose to get a top pick in each round, get rid of some of the vets, and just let the damn kids play...couts being buried on the fourth line over briere was attrocious.
these trade rumors are classic flyers boneheaded moves...trading young talent for rentals and overpaid fixes |

Knuble may have just rendered himself tradable. That's a free pick in the draft if flyers can get something |
