You're right, we do! - MJL
Did more digging. Marc Cundari is a 5'9" defenseman, who projects as a third pair guy at best. He's a RFA as his ELC ends this summer
The goalie, Reto Berra is a very raw project with iffy numbers in the Swiss leagues.
Holy mackerel, they're worse than I remembered |

That's why I feel Simmonds is a gonner if Clowe comes. I'm going to wake tomorrow to read that we traded Simmonds, Read, Gusty and a 1rst for Clowe, Boyle and conditional 6th. I will then proceed to drink myself into a slobbering booze coma at 6am. - Deasr1
If for some stupid reason the Flyers trade Simmonds they will then spend the entire offseason trying to acquire a guy just like him. |

Got to figure that getting him would be dominos, with another forward being moved for a defenseman. Otherwise, got to question why? - Jsaquella
Are they really that deep on the wings that they couldn't conceivably just be adding a player for the balance of this season and moving forward (assuming an extension is part of the trade scenario)? Couturier really needs wingers in the worst way, right? |

A part of me hates this time of year haha. So much crap on that horsepoop twitter website.
We will see what happens. In terms of bringing in a d-man, I cant see many teams selling good pieces. I'd be happy with Giordano depending on the cost. |

Simmonds is a step under untouchable... he's exactly the type of player that Homer/Clarke/Snider covet, he's young, and he looks great in orange.
I'd be more worried for Hartnell. |

If Couturier and a lottery protected 1st could get you Yandle, do you pull the trigger? |

Possible, but trading for a streaky guy who is going to be a UFA, who they supposedly want to re-sign? Just seems like one of those, "If we get this guy, we can move that guy" kind of things.
I mean, they have Read, Hartnell, Gagne and Rosehill/McGinn on LW and Voracek, Simmonds, Knuble and Rinaldo on the right side. Not great, but not as glaringly bad as the defense after losing Coburn and Meszaros for the year. |

I see Simmonds as a younger player, but the inconsistency in Hartnell's career, along with his stupidity has been chronic.
Its alright if we disagree, no worries here.
What would you be comfortable giving up for Clowe? Anything more than a 4th and Holmgren is dumb imo. Assets need to be saved for more crucial needs. - flyer_nutter
I'm really not comfortable with trading for Clowe at all. I agree that there are more crucial needs. Unless there is more to it.
I think Hartnell is a player that you'll miss, unless there's a replacement for him.

Thats the thing for me. No matter what unless they bring in D, they must know they are winning poop this year.
If they do bring in Clowe its because they want him for the future. |

I wouldn't. Yandle is a great offensive defenseman. He's not better than average in his on end and his physicality is at a minimum. He got all the offensive tools, though. |

Well, they could be getting a defenseman for the future as well. I would have been in on Bouwmeester because he's only 29. He could sign an extension and be locked up for 6 or 7 more years, and still provide solid play for a team. |

IMO, they're pretty thin everywhere except for up the middle.
With that said, I'd rather see them try to get Clowe as a UFA in the summer than give up asset(s) now to jump the market. He's easy to make fun of, but he's actually a pretty decent top-9 forward, and I could see him as a strong complimentary piece. |

Flyers should not trade that dude...he's really developing as a force in the opposing low slot, able to hold his position and score goals. He also has heart, toughness and sticks up for his mates. If it's a must in a deal for a legit top paring D man I can understand, but if not, could be a bad move. |
