Just curious, how do you know all this? Do you watch any Bridgeport games? Have you seen these prospects play this year? I haven't. But I know it typically takes d-men a long time to develop, So I don't see how we can be sure that these kids are not only NHL ready, but better than Mark Streit. Will some of the "D" prospects top out as better players than Streit? I sure hope so. Will that happen in the next year or two? Doubtful. - Jethro09
I've seen Streit play D and I'll take my chances with Donovan. Do not worry Jethro Streit will not be traded. |

what do we have if Tavares goes down? - Isles_since_6
Right. But who's suggesting we trade away the team's top scoring forwards for draft picks? I'm not.
You can look at this any way you'd like to but the truth is, Streit is not Mike Mottau or Milan Jurcina out there. He's not a pylon. He's not a shut-down d-man, but he's better than at least five of the d-men playing on the roster right now (Finley, Hickey, Martinek, Carkner, A-Mac). He's no worse than the fourth d-man on this roster defensively, probably #2 offensively. Why trade that away while on the doorstep to a playoff spot for a late second round pick? Because he won't sign an extension?
People have to get out of the mindset that "hey, its trade deadline time! Time to trade away all pending UFA's!". How about they go for a playoff appearance instead? |

From what I saw last night when I went to the game...Hickey plays defense, Streit doesn't... - kear20
and I think Hickey will be quite capable in the next year or two of being a decent power play qb...and if not, we have a couple of kids coming up who may fill the role as well. |

Why not give Hamonic some PP time as well? |

I simply don't believe that Streit's departure would effect the team that much. I absolutely don't think he'll be traded but I think the team could move on without missing a beat. As for defensively play, I'd rank Martinek and Hickey as better in their own end. Amac is just about a toss up and that's an insult no compliment. I'd probalby rank Streit somewhere between 4-6 on our team defensively. As for not being a pylon, you have to admit, he sure as hell looked like one on that goal against last night. That type of thing has happened waaaaay too much this year (and last) |

agreed. Frankly I'd prefer Hamonic and Vis on the power play with Hickey and Martinek as the second pairing (if Streit were gone). By next year, Donovan should be here along with possibly another youngster or two. Then there's free agency.. |

Streit is being greedy... not sure how I feel about this.
Do you cut him loose and risk your playoff spot.
Keep him around... and risk losing losing him for nothing after the season if he doesn't resign.
I think I would listen to all offers... if I could get a first rounder, I would let him go.
If no first rounder... then he stays. |

The entire five on the ice looked like pylons on Poni's goal. They were gassed at the end of a shift and did a bad job of staying on the ice too long. Other than that, I have a hard time finding any fault with the team's performance last night. It was as rock solid as Matt Martin's right to the chin of Kostopolous (sp). |

Any chance we'll have more than 9000 people tonight? I'm going and hope the crowds not sparse.

I saw him last night...he was invisable...I'd pass...can't trade any of our blue chip prospects... - kear20
Pretty sure he is a free agent this summer, that's kind of what I meant. Plus we can use a guy who is tough as nails and can score 20 plus. Also didn't he have 5 or 6 shots on goal last night? Not exactly boyes like invisible if you ask me |

I'm guessing 12,000 plus. I wanted to go tonight but the wife and kid are sick I can't leave them alone. I'll be there on the 9th and 16th |

Agreed...Hickey was a good pickup...always is back on defense when Visnovsky moves up into the play...Hickey gives up the puck a little too much but has upside but needs to get stronger... |

Streit needed to be moving and force his player outside. Amac did his job by staying in between the players but Boyes flubbed the backcheck. It starts with your defenseman standing still at his own blueline..that can't happen. As a dman myself, that one had me spitting nails. |

Sounds good to me but I think they don't do anything unless a trade falls into their lap they can't say no to... |

You'll get number 2 for Boyes, alright, but it won't be a draft pick... |
