Pominville would be great with JT!!! - jimmc7722
Not saying he wouldn't. Getting Snow to make a trade is the issue |

You'll get number 2 for Boyes, alright, but it won't be a draft pick... - dcb1

You think..I think if god forbid if Taveras got hurt I think Strome would take his place or maybe Lee...but lets not wish that... - kear20
I think Strome has ten times the talent Bailey has and therefore, like most blue chip 1st rounders, would be perfectly capable of stepping into an NHL role right now. The only reason he isn't here is they want to preserve his ELC. |

I'm just asking a question...don't come after me...if Buffalo offered Pominville for Nino, 2013 1st rd pick and 2014 2nd rd pick...do you make the deal? Pominville has another year on his contract...
Another question: Call Dallas and see what they want for Stephane Robidas? maybe a 3rd rd pick...supposedly a stay at home d-man...has another year on his contract plus a no trade clause... |

Even at that, we might have to consider. #2 would be the perfect pairing for AMAC. |

Right. But who's suggesting we trade away the team's top scoring forwards for draft picks? I'm not.
You can look at this any way you'd like to but the truth is, Streit is not Mike Mottau or Milan Jurcina out there. He's not a pylon. He's not a shut-down d-man, but he's better than at least five of the d-men playing on the roster right now (Finley, Hickey, Martinek, Carkner, A-Mac). He's no worse than the fourth d-man on this roster defensively, probably #2 offensively. Why trade that away while on the doorstep to a playoff spot for a late second round pick? Because he won't sign an extension?
People have to get out of the mindset that "hey, its trade deadline time! Time to trade away all pending UFA's!". How about they go for a playoff appearance instead? - Jethro09
the point you made was that good teams have depth and trading Streit would mean we wouldn't have any depth if LV goes down with injury. I'm pointing out we have no depth at forward either. JT has scored about 20% of the entire team's goals this year. Our second line has what, 6 goals as our leading goal getter on that line? We are NOT a good team.
What's the point in losing assets for nothing to make a playoff appearance against the Penguins in the first round who've loaded up prior to the deadline? We get swept in 4, lose Streit for nothing and then everyone will female dog that snow didn't move an asset when he could have.
A 4 game sweep in the playoffs does not make us a better team. Losing an asset for nothing does not make us a better team.
We've gone through all this losing and now with the Isles finally showing a bit of progress we're going to be happy with squeaking into the playoffs? Carolina has 2 games in hand 3 points back. Rangers have a game in hand. There's not even a good chance we'll make the playoffs, right now it's possible but not likely.
I trade Streit for 2 second rounders if that's all we can get and I use those as trade chips in the summer when teams are shedding salary. We plug in Donovan for 12 minutes a night and take a shot at the playoffs but we do not lose an asset for nothing when we are not a good team and will not make any noise in the playoffs even if we see a massive improvement and they make it.
Nabby is on the decline with nothing solid ready to take over next year. He's had a lot of soft goals this year that have let teams back in games or buried the Isles when they might have got extra points. Our forward depth is very weak and we struggle for secondary scoring. This is not a good team and not the year to be losing assets to make a playoff push. Sell Streit while he has value and move on.
Dallas has the right idea, they know they're not going to make any noise and started making moves in the same spot we are. When they traded Morrow they were 8th. It's not popular, but in the summer I guarantee we'll have people complaining that snow let streit walk just like pa when he could have got something for him. Any other view right now is just fooling yourself.

I think Strome would be able handle things pretty well. He would not be JT of course. He should not be as rushed as Bailey was. |

As much as I would love to make the playoffs it's really hard to argue your logic. Isles are not a deep playoff threat where they can lose pieces for nothing.

Streit is being greedy... not sure how I feel about this.
Do you cut him loose and risk your playoff spot.
Keep him around... and risk losing losing him for nothing after the season if he doesn't resign.
I think I would listen to all offers... if I could get a first rounder, I would let him go.
If no first rounder... then he stays. - jimmc7722
You wouldn't be losing him for nothing. You'd be losing him for whatever help he could provide in the first real playoff push this team has had in almost a decade. |

Hopefully Poulin pays off. EK says the Wings are looking for top 6 forward due to injuries. They can have Boyes |
