its gpg (goals per game). He scored 1 goal with the Pens.. 21 in 59 games with the Stars. - jak521
I know what you mean but that's misleading to put three straight seasons with the Stars, prorate his last one and throw in his first year with the Pens when he scored 40. GPG would be goals over games played and you're just showing goals.
.31 GPG in 08-09
.34 GPG in 09-10
.35 GPG in 10-11 in 59 games with Dallas
.5 GPG in 11-12 with Pitt.
EDIT: for the record he is scoring at the same .5 goals per game clip this year with the Pens. |

Stewart and Shattenkirk having big years.. AP is gonna get a hefty raise, Jake Allen's emergence and pending RFA status.. plus the other 22 people. - jak521
They've got the cap space to cushion the blow... plus, the Blues have really shown restraint when it comes to re-upping their own guys... unlike Homer who hands his RFA's blank checks. |

Dallas is either going to get a first-round (if Bruins wins two rounds) or 2nd round (if they don't) pick and two prospects with NHL upside in exchange for a 41-year-old rental who wasn't going to re-sign. They did well for themselves. - bmeltzer
I would assume the Bruins would give up their first round pick to be 8 wins from another Cup. If the Pens don't get healthy, Boston would probably be the favorite in the East. Although I could see the Habs giving them fits. |

And Homer will swoop in like a hawk and offer sheet them into oblivion. - funmaster18
If Homer doesnt get a solid D-man before the deadline Im willing to bet they will do whatever it takes to get one. For St Louis to keep those guys which they could it would be close to the cap which the never operate up to. Listening to Snider talk and his comments sound similar to when Flyers were about to get Bryz. Will be a overpayment via trade or massive offer sheet Weber style. |

If Toronto lands a goalie, I wouldn't put them far out of the mix. Kadri and Lupul are scary together. |

The point is that Neal was already an excellent goal-scorer with Dallas... I wouldn't have traded him straight up for Goligoski at that time, much less thrown Niskanen in to boot. |

I don't think so, focusing on it takes away that element of surprise. The coverage is always overblown anyways, imo. The real action is here in the Meltzatorium. |

And my point is that Neal vastly benefits from playing with the worlds top 2 playmakers. Moreso than he would with Jamie Benn. Just context is all. |

They need a major piece. I'm fine if it's a young, future stud player, provided they are at least able to jump into the lineup immediately. |

Until we are statistically out of it I will continue to root for the Flyers to win the cup. That said, (only teams currently in the PO picture) if they don't I would like to see Le Habs win it. A classy organization with a great past and you know the fans deserve it. STL would be my next choice. And then Minnesota. I like seeing the cup get passed around from city to city each year, I think it is good for the game and for the fans.
Anyone else have a team other then the Flyers you could stomach seeing the cup go to? |

The Leafs team save % is .916, goaltending hasn't been an issue for them this year. |

Hockey Futures has the Flyers dead last in the prospects rankings. - PLindbergh31
True but if you read the articles, they do state that part of that reason is that Philly is very good about graduating their high end Prospects (at least their forwards). Schenn, Coots, Sbisa, Giroux, Gus, Rinaldo, Read, JVR, Bourdon, Bobrovsky. Not saying they could not use some more Depth right now but their young picks/signings have a tendency to jump into the Big leagues pretty quick. Even Laughton looked like he was ready to go. |

I've watched a ton of Leafs games this year. No their goaltending isn't an issue or a major problem, but both Reimer and Scrivens benefit from Toronto's defensive play. If they got Kipper for example for a bag on dirt knowing Feaster, a goalie who can steal the show, it would go a long way I'd think. |

It was definitely an overpayment. But young puck-moving defenseman with huge offensive upside is gonna cost you. At the time, Dallas was ripped. Then when Neal's production dropped off a cliff, people started going the other way. Then, after Neal's first full year, it went back to Pittsburgh got the better of the deal. Both team got good players, and I hope someone breaks Neal's face one day. |
