What type of player are you going to get in the 6th round. Only some 6th rounders even see the NHL. Good ones are very rare (unless your Detroit). You got to ask, will Rosehill be better than Shelley (now) or Sestito (was)? Because that's the role he'll be filling. And, as for next year, Rosehill will be better than any 6th draft pick.
FYI. Maybe he can fill in for Defense
http://www.hockeysfuture....m/prospects/jay_rosehill/
Hockey Future has Rosehill listed as a defensive defenseman...
"Rosehill’s greatest assets are his size, strength and punishing physical style. He is never one to back down from challenge and delivers bone-jarring hits as often as the opportunities present themselves. He’s a solid defensive defenseman that progressed quite nicely over the course of his freshman campaign." - leon neon
I've seen Rosehill play. If he's a solid defensive defenseman, than Randy Jones is (frank)ing Bobby Orr |

Rosters expand tomorrow and he's gone at the end of the year. There's virtually no waste, imo. - bradleyc4
For crying out loud Brad, would you stop with all the logic and reason!!??!?!?!
Goons are bad, ergo, this is a bad trade, so just stop with all your "rosters expand tomorrow", and "Harry Z is AHL talent" fancy talk and get with the program.
THIS IS BAD!!!!!

Can anyone name any 7th rounders that ever became stars? - mikel33
Zetterberg
Gilmour
Host of others (Hasek, Robitaille) taken when there were more than 7 rounds. Timonen was a 10th rounder. |

I don't think people have a problem losing Harry Z, I think its what they got for him that has people still talking.. Probably could have gotten more. - mikel33
A bag of pucks and some Wawa subs would've been more. |

I still can't believe Briere sustained a serious concussion at practice right before the trade deadline. - Feanor
At least he has an NMC to protect him. Last year it was JVR that got injured before the TDL and guess what....he still got traded for L. Schenn in the offseason. |

With Talbot out, the Flyers could have used Zolnierczyk as a 4th liner. Every player is an asset. He can be a bit of an agitator and provides good speed. He was a bit of a spark plug for the Flyers this year. Rosehill is a flat out goon. There's literally nothing he does but fight the other team's goon.
I don't mind so much trading Zolnierczyk as I do in adding an player whose talent level is ECHL, but who is in the NHL because he can fight. - Jsaquella
harry z is a healthy scratch, rosehill plays 5 minutes an night...who is more of an asset to the team?
wellwood, mcginn and a host of others are harry z's equal or better. losing him means nothing.

Ahh. Nice. I find it interesting how some players excel when they get to the pros.
Also, Jeff MacMillan became a star. (I'm sorry) |

Well Sestito was brought up, he's a better player than Rosehill and he was thrown out on waivers, then a trade is made for a goon. The reactionary bullpoop is really dumb. - PLindbergh31
Is Sestito better? Based on his lack of play, there was something that the Flyers management didn't like about him. Sestito may not be capable of playing a more refined agitator/goon role, like Rinaldo. Sestito had a lot of dumb penalties. Let's see what Rosehill brings.
(Rosehill may just be a better lockroom guy, ability to play defense in practice - like Shelley, and have excellent popcorn serving ability to bring Mr Clarke his game corn...) |

I'm not trying for a gig anywhere. I'm on a hockey message board discussing a trade that was made by two hockey teams. That's sort of the whole point of the website, isn't it?
Don't like it? Feel free to ignore it. I won't lose sleep over it. But I'm not going to take orders from you. |

Rosehill also has big hands. Maybe Shelley needs better competition to challenge to a thumb war in the Riley Cote International Suite. |
