There is actually a flawed kind of logic in that statement. Vancouver gave up a center to us which allowed us to unload a center to Dallas that Vancouver eventually ended up trading for because they no longer had the center depth they once did. It's dumb reasoning, but it's not completely bogus. - Pierceme69
That's like saying we traded Mogilny for Chris Drury. |

Connauton and a 2nd...wow. - dawgzhouse
Connauton kind of blows this year(talking to people who follow the Wolves). Never a good sign when there's talk of a d-man being moved to a forward. Marc Andre Bergeron 6-7 guy at the NHL level at best IMO. |

I'm surprised that so many people outside of Vancouver are high on Connauton. |

Sabres are good at doing things like that . Miller is safe with Crosby out of the line up. |

I don't think its a bad deal at all. Personal dislike for Derek Roy aside, Buffalo fans know how hard it is to get a center. It's a sellers market. |

objectively though, do you think that derek roy fits really well with what vancouver is trying to do in a way that will help them in the playoffs?
granted having him is better than not having anybody as a #2 center, but i don't see it being super helpful myself. |

According to people who follow him and the AHL team closely, he's regressed this year and isn't close to NHL-ready yet. He's 23 years old. |

I couldn't stand him but I agree, who else is out there? It is a shame - both he and Kassian have a ton of talent but no maturity. |

He'd be a solid PP guy, and it's an enormous upgrade from whoever they have as their 2nd C now with Kesler out... |

The tough thing is overblown IMO, this team falls apart because of the lack of secondary scoring in the playoffs, and it really lacks a good passer/playmaker outside of the Sedins and they haven't had a legit second PP unit since the Samuelsson/Demitra/Sundin days. If he can get either of Kesler or Booth going offensively then this trade helps the Canucks big time. |

Do you see Gillis trying to resign Roy after the year is over? It sounds like he's asking for $6 mil per which if I'm remembering correctly, would be a bit high since you guys are going to be in cap hell. Though I could be wrong. I'm too lazy to look up your cap situation. |

I think he'll be a great fit for the Nucks. Roy's not a bad player, he just needed to get out of Buffalo. If he wasn't going to resign in Dallas, so they had to move him anyway. The one thing he doesn't add to Vancouver is toughness, which is where they've fell short in the playoffs in past years. |

Bad break for the Sabres tonight, the Penguins made an organizational decision to ditch their blue jerseys. They were supposed to wear them this evening. They need to burn those cursed threads. |
