If Ott, or any other player at that matter, is named captain over Vanek, how likely would it be that he stays? I remember hearing he was pretty pissed that he wasn't named the captain at the beginning of last season, but how would he react if he got snubbed again? He is a professional and obviously the new coach will have a say, but if it comes down to a player vote and he isn't selected - - that's a tough pill to swallow.

Good question, Pominville is no Captain but I would think they roll with 3 A's instead of naming a Captain now.

Vanek plays hard to, he takes a beating in front of the net, Best offensive forward hands down, and plays through injuries "doesn't run to the DR".

Ott deserves the C because of how he played for 5-6 games? He deserves a A and thats it.

Be nice to see Myers with a defense partner who could put a pass on his stick, and not behind him or in his skates. Also it would be nice to have point men on the power play who can handle the puck. The trade that I would like at draft time is Vanek and Ehrhoff for Shane Weber.

Don't see it as a discount, but not horrible either. 20 goal full season pace this year playing without a decent center and limited PP time is pretty damn solid. He's good on the PK too. 3 years would have been better though. 2 million would have been a discount, 2.5 is fair.
