I a bit scared with all the Yandle stuff....I can handle dealing Coots, although I view that as a mistake, but this years first could cripple us for years and I hope they understand that......desperation make GM's do stupid things - nonpoint22
Snider is prob so red in the face right now, he's banging on Holmers office door right now screaming to trade for a dman |

It's not really easy to understand. It can be complicated. But tagging space is basically a combination of available cap space for the next season, and the total of expiring UFA contracts. |

Ahh.. so those two leaving would take away two expiring contracts.. gotchya. Stupid IMO. Also stupid that significant, career ending injuries cant be handled appropriately. |

With long-term planning in mind, if Getzlaf got $8 million/yr, how much is G worth (I know he will still only be a RFA)? I don't blame Bryz for the defensive woes this year, but I can see the interest in Bishop. Buyout Briere and Bryz, and Kimmo and Mez come off the books after next there will be plenty of cap space to re up G and/or B. Schenn and Coots. |

i doubt if even homer will do that much of a knee jerk. couts should bring a two way dman, not a gogo+ type guy. |

NOOOOO
I love Yandle but dear god Homer do NOT deal Couturier... - LordStanley88
If you look at it logically they probably are looking next year and what they have and center is what they have a lot of and if you look at it...G is obviously your top center, I beleive they see Schenn as more of a 2nd line scoring center, and Laughton is better slotted of more of a third line center, and then Talbot is 4th.....aka Coots is expendable for something you need so I actually believe the Yandle stuff today |

Except Schenn, Laughton, and Talbot are all more "expendable" than Coots. When the word "Selke" is used often when describing a young, sophomore center; he is no longer expendable..... |

There is another complication to the tagging space issue. Normally, at this time of the year, tagging space is based on the current Upper Limit. Because the actual Upper Limit for the next Season, is not determined. But in this year's case, next year's Upper Limit is already known. So that changes things, as I understand it. I don't believe there were any transition rules put into place to cover that, but I could be wrong.
Also, if the Flyers weren't already way over the Upper Limit and using LTIR. Moving two players such as Gagne and Fedetenko, would create available Cap space for this Season, which for a team under the Upper Limit, would create more tagging space. But that's not the case with the Flyers. Which is again, another reason why a team wants to stay away from using LTIR if at all possible. |

Trade Read, Laughton, + or walk away. Couts is a gem IMO. It's time to be patient with our young studs. |

Sure, next season. Unless you think he's trade bait... They didn't want to blow the first year of his ELC on this craptastic season. |

I dont think they see it that way...When you trade your Captain for someone your tied to them and Schenn was the centerpiece to that deal, Laughton or Talbot arent getting you the puck moving d man they covet...I understand Coots is someone people arent hesitant about trading and I dont disagree....but you have to give to get |

curiosity, if an underclassman is not drafted to date, can he still be drafted? Like say TVR....say he stays in college another year, can someone still draft him despite being older? - nastyflyergirl

I see your point and I dont disagree....They are not patient, they have proven that....I have been on record saying they should be sellers or do nothing IMO, but they are certainly making calls...Maybe they are just driving up price on Rags, but I do think they want a puck moving d man with multiple years left on deal....i.e yandle |

If Homer trades Couturier + for Yandle he needs to fired on the spot.

When the Flyers are in the thick of things heading into the playoffs, I always tried to get the TSN feed, but not this year.
Now, I'm just watching twitter just hoping they don't do anything stupid. |
